Ronan returned to Lumos Enterprises, sending a photograph to his assistant to identify the man in the image. It was a photo of a man with Cordelia, sent to Ronan by an anonymous texter.
In the evening, Ronan returned home and asked his son, Callum, "Do you still want your mom to come and stay with us?"
"Of course, I do."
"Well, then call her."
Callum studied Ronan's face for a while, "Dad, don't tell me you're too embarrassed to call her yourself?"
"I am not embarrassed about anything. You call her. Use the landline."
Callum reluctantly picked up the receiver. He remembered Cordelia's number from the last time Ronan had dialed it for him.
Upon connecting, a voice came from the other end, "Hello?"
"Mom." Callum's young voice echoed.
Hearing this, Cordelia smiled, her heart warming, "Callum, what's up?"
"Mom, when will your meeting end?" Callum asked, tilting his little face up towards the receiver.
"Tomorrow afternoon," Cordelia replied.
"Professor, put it on speaker. We want to hear this little munchkin," two students cajoled.
Unable to resist, Cordelia switched to speakerphone.
"So, what are your plans after the meeting?"
"I was thinking of going straight back to the university," Cordelia replied, her voice softening as she spoke to her son.
"So, you're going back on your word? Weren't you supposed to come and stay with us?" Callum grumbled.
