The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 533

About five months later, it was a sunny afternoon when the actor decided to pay a visit to his future father-in-law. After an intense internal struggle, he wanted to meet the man who would become his family, the woman he loved, and the child growing inside her.

He had no idea there were two daughters in the family. His celebrity girlfriend had kept it a secret, so he didn't suspect a thing when he laid eyes on a woman who was the spitting image of his lover but with a conspicuously flat belly. His curiosity got the better of him, though, and he asked, "Where's our baby?"

The younger sister, with tears shimmering in her eyes, whispered, "Since I came back from abroad, our father has been bedridden and unable to utter a word. With such a situation, I had to take care of him. I couldn't bear the thought of being with child out of wedlock. I'm so sorry."

The actor understood the predicament. He felt a pang of sympathy for his beloved. He announced that he had just finished filming and was planning to take a sabbatical for a year or so. He wanted to stay and help care for her father. The younger daughter agreed to his proposal.

However, she never shared a bed with him.

The truth was, when the actor first stepped through the door, he had caught the younger daughter's eye. It was no surprise that the sisters shared the same taste in men. What the older sister had once cherished, the younger now coveted.

Despite this, the younger sister kept her distance, claiming that it would be morally wrong to engage in the pleasures of the flesh while their father lay ill. She also explained that she had just terminated a pregnancy and couldn't share a bed. She feared that in doing so, the actor might not be able to restrain himself. Ever understanding, he respected her wishes. His character was truly commendable.

But the real reason for her reluctance was much simpler. The younger sister was a virgin. She was afraid he would discover the truth and that the difference in bed would give her away. She was well aware that she needed to find a way to break the barrier of her virginity if she were to fully captivate the actor.

One evening, as Jackson and the younger sister were sitting on the couch, buried in their books, he casually asked, "What happened to the mole on your ear? It's gone."

At that moment, Cordelia's heart skipped a beat. The mole on the ear... Alana!

It all came rushing back to Cordelia. She remembered Tristi mentioning a TV drama Alana had starred in when she was younger, "Emerald Waters," and a poster Tristi had shown her of a young Alana, distinctive with a mole on her ear. Later, it had disappeared, and Cordelia had assumed Alana had it removed.

But now, the truth hit her like a cold wave. It wasn't removed—it was a different person altogether.

Cordelia shivered, realizing the twisted path Alana's life had taken, and the lengths to which she had gone, even replacing her own sister. She was not Alana. Cordelia was certain of it now. But what did any of this have to do with her? Cordelia felt lost, even as the answer seemed glaringly obvious. She struggled to believe it.

What had become of the real daughter? And the child? What about the actor? Cordelia was desperate to know the truth.

"Alana?" She ventured the word tentatively.

The old man seemed to snap out of his reverie. "Yes, Alana. Or rather, she used to be called Paola. She stole her sister's life, including her name, her celebrity status, and the love of an actor. Since she took the name Alana, let's call her that, just as the world knows her today."
