Yesterday, Whitney noticed that Paola seemed a bit off. She was eager to get to know Paola better and break the ice.
About an hour later, the door swung open, and Cordelia breezed in with a sunny smile. "I'm back," she chirped cheerily.
Her eyes landed on Ronan, who was still seated, not having left. "You're still here?" she asked, a bit surprised.
"Come with me," Ronan said abruptly, heading into Cordelia's bedroom.
In her room, Cordelia tossed her purse aside, started undressing, and asked, "What's up? Did something happen to Mom?"
Ronan closed in on her, his tone pressing, "How was the crab last night? Was it good?"
Initially, Cordelia was puzzled by his sudden interest in the crab. Why bring up crab out of the blue? she wondered.
But then it hit her: Crab was a summer delicacy, definitely not suitable for someone who had recently given birth. And since she had been at Victoria's clinic, there was no way Victoria wouldn't have reminded her about such dietary restrictions. It was her own oversight, leaving crab in the fridge!
Realizing she was busted by Ronan so quickly, Cordelia felt a wave of irritation. Her plan to torment him was uncovered before it even began. Her face turned ghostly pale as she stammered, "Oh, I forgot. Victoria did warn me."
Ronan pinned her against the wall, scrutinizing her eyes. Her face was a mask of panic, but her eyes remained calm, betraying her facade—a ploy to draw out his secret of a sham marriage.
"Really? Forgot? You sure have a selective memory!" Ronan scooped her up off the floor and laid her onto the bed.
Cordelia let out a sharp scream. However, the scream didn't draw the attention it warranted.
