Cordelia knew Samantha's trip to the UK was to stand in for her, and now that Samantha was back, it was clear Alana had made her move.
“How did you find out?” Cordelia asked.
“Harold told me.”
…
Let's rewind three days earlier.
Samantha and Alana had returned to their home in England. At that time, Seth and the real Alana were nowhere to be seen. Each had their own room, and the only staff in the house was a maid named Allison.
That morning, Samantha woke up early, but Alana's room was still quiet. She knocked on Alana's door. When there was no response, she gently pushed it open.
Alana was still asleep, tears streaking her cheeks. It was the first time Samantha had ever seen Alana cry, and it startled her. Alana was always so strong and powerful, seeing her vulnerable was shocking.
Fearing Alana might lash out if she woke up, Samantha tiptoed out and headed downstairs to the kitchen to help Allison with breakfast.
By the time Samantha emerged from the kitchen, Alana was already downstairs, lounging in a sunlit armchair, smoking a cigarette, staring into the distance.
“Breakfast is ready, Ms. Alana,” Samantha called softly.
It took Alana a moment to respond, but she eventually walked over to the table. Back at the dining table, she was her usual self—decisive and ruthless.
“Samantha, you need to head back to China,” she declared.
“Why?” Samantha knew her trip to England hadn't achieved Alana's goals, jeopardizing her own future career. To keep getting roles, she had to play by Alana's rules.
