The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 653

Cordelia couldn't shake off the irritation gnawing at her. Why was there always another woman involved?

"I'm hanging up!" Cordelia snapped, her voice tinged with jealousy.

"Wait, don't," Ronan chuckled softly. "I've got some important news. Did you hear that Petra got arrested?"

Cordelia's brow furrowed. She'd been wondering for days if Ronan was planning something against Petra. Now Petra was in jail, and Ronan was in Birchwood without her. Was this his doing? If it was, he sure didn't let her in on it.

"Did you do it?" she questioned him over the video call.

"Cordelia, don't give your husband too much credit. It wasn't me," Ronan said, trying hard to keep his cool.

Was she going to suspect him every time something happened?

"It's not you? How convenient. I sensed something was wrong during our last car ride, and now, you head off to Birchwood without me, and she gets nabbed. Are you trying to play God or something?"

With that, Cordelia ended the call in a huff.

Why did he always end up in these situations?

What kind of impression had he really left on Cordelia?

Ronan was fuming. He tossed his phone onto the nightstand and closed his eyes, struggling to contain his rage.

The image of Cordelia's angry face haunted him.

Did she really trust him that little?

Of course, he had orchestrated the whole thing with Petra. There was no point in denying it.

But here's the kicker: whatever he did, she always looked down on it!

Ronan didn't sleep well that night.

The next morning, Emerson was the one who whipped up breakfast. It was simple: milk, fried eggs, toast, some pickles, and he even made porridge.
