The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 67

Ronan was alone in his office, deeply lost in thought.

Last night, she had rejected him in bed. Even earlier, she'd insisted that she didn't want kids, that her goal was to become a CPA and make a ton of money.

She told him it was all lies to trick her brother, but in retrospect, that was far from the truth!

She had indeed aborted his child, and kept it from him.

Cordelia!!

He dialed Cordelia's number on the office phone.

"Get to my office now!" His voice was icy cold.

Cordelia was drained, and she was in the middle of a task that couldn't be interrupted. So, she tried to put him off. "Can it wait?"

"Now."

Cordelia reluctantly let go of her work and trudged to his office.

No sooner had she stepped in than he angrily blurted, "Did you abort our baby?"

"What?" Cordelia was clueless about what he was talking about.

"While I was away, did you abort our baby?" Ronan glared at Cordelia, his eyes seemingly lethal.

Cordelia frowned slightly, thinking: She had never been pregnant in the first place, hadn't she already told him that?

"I wasn't pregnant, I just lied to fool my brother," Cordelia said.

But then she noticed the lunchbox on Ronan's desk.

Who had been here? Deanna? Deanna had once sought her out, wanting her to abort the baby. Now that she had acted according to Deanna's wishes, had Deanna come to spill the beans to Ronan?

Deanna was a crafty and cunning woman.

Cordelia was no match for her, she knew that whatever Deanna said, Ronan would believe it.

After all, Deanna was his first love!

She scoffed coldly, "No matter what I say, it won't make a difference. Since you're convinced I've had an abortion, let's just say I did. I'm leaving!

"Stop right there!" Ronan tried his best to contain his rage.

He got up from his chair, stepped towards Cordelia gradually, until she was backed up against the door with no room to escape.

Cordelia looked at Ronan, her brows slightly furrowed and panic in her eyes.

"Why did you abort our baby?" His eyes were bloodshot as he stared at Cordelia, just mere inches away from her.

Indeed, Deanna could stir all his emotions, at least this side of Ronan was something Cordelia had never seen before.

"We were bound to get a divorce anyway, why should I keep the baby?" Cordelia raised her head, her eyes full of determination and defiance.

"Why didn't you discuss it with me?"
