The Contracted Ever After novel Chapter 69

The next day, Cordelia and Brooklyn went shopping and happened to walk pass the largest bookstore in Millstone, Pages & Prose.

This bookstore was a four-story stunner, fancier than average mall, and a hotspot for social media influencers.

Cordelia planned to buy a textbook on financial cost management and a few practice problems. As long as she passed this last exam next year, she'd have her CPA certificate.

As they walked in, they noticed a line of people queuing up – it seemed like a book signing event. To their surprise, it was Jamie who was signing.

“Mr. Colby?” Cordelia was taken aback.

It was early autumn, and Jamie was wearing a stylish grey shirt.

“Cordelia? What brings you here?” Jamie asked while signing books, glancing at his watch, “Why don't you guys look around? I'll be done in 15 minutes.”

Cordelia went to pick out her textbook and Brooklyn bought a novel, complaining, “These books are so pricey.”

After Jamie was done signing, he had two books in his hands.

“For you two, one each.”

Cordelia took one, it was titled The CPA Success Blueprint.

“Did you write this?” Cordelia's eyes sparkled with admiration for Jamie.

“Yep.”

Cordelia glanced at the inscription in her book, which read: May your dreams come true soon.

“Thank you, Mr. Colby.”

Perhaps they both found their last encounter at the hotel too awkward to mention.

“I'm heading to my accounting firm now. Wanna tag along?” Jamie checked his watch.

He was always on the clock, always busy.

Cordelia had always wanted to work at an accounting firm. With her day wide open, she was thrilled to accept Jamie's invitation.

So, they hopped in the car with Jamie.

Jamie said that when he returns home tomorrow, he can help Cordelia find the notes on financial cost management. He has already highlighted the key points and provided annotations. With Cordelia's intelligence, as long as she puts in the effort, she will definitely pass.

“Once you pass, you can come work at my accounting firm.” Jamie seemed to say it offhand.

Cordelia thought of Manda, who was working at an accounting firm even without a CPA certificate.

“I don't have my certificate yet. Can I still come?” Cordelia asked.

Brooklyn elbowed Cordelia lightly and gave her a meaningful look, as if to say: Don't let your feelings mess with your work. Lumos Enterprises' job opportunities are golden.

She thought Cordelia was just being bitter.
