The Kiss that Sparked it All novel Chapter 1195

Ellinor kept her cool, patiently explaining. "I was invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony as a guest. I went upstairs to take a look around. I wanted to use the restroom, but I took a wrong turn."

Sophia obviously didn't buy her explanation, giving her a once-over with a skeptical look. "So you're saying you're a guest for the ribbon cutting? Missed the restroom door? You think I was born yesterday? I don't remember hearing your name on the guest list. What's your name?"

Ellinor answered. "I'm Moon, the designer of the Blanchet Building. If you don't believe me, you can call the person in charge at Crescent Society, the contractor for the Blanchet Building. I really did take a wrong turn just now, and I have other matters to attend to, so I can't stick around."

With that, Ellinor showed Sophia the ID badge she had just shown to the staff and left.

Sophia looked at her badge, which did indeed read "Special Guest, Moon."

But her gut told her something was fishy about this woman, who was overdressed and seemed to be on high alert.

After some thought, Sophia decided to stop her again.

Ellinor was stopped again. She wore a mask that covered everything but her eyes, looking somewhat annoyed. "What now, lady?"

Sophia held up the ID badge Ellinor had just given her. "This is definitely a Blanchet Corporation badge, but there's no photo on it. How do I know you didn't just find this on the ground?"

Ellinor chuckled lightly. "I already told you that if you have doubts, you can contact the Crescent Society for confirmation."

Sophia wasn't impressed. "And how would I do that? They can't tell me what Moon looks like over the phone. Even if they could, I wouldn't know if you were her! Look at you! You have a hat on your head and a mask on your face; you’re dressed like you're going to the Arctic. How am I supposed to recognize you? Unless you take off that hat and mask, that is!"

Ellinor responded. "Sorry, but you have no right to make that demand."
