The Outcast Hybrid Luna novel Chapter 5

Scarlett

'No! ' The beast of a man sneered holding me by my neck, his claws digging into my skin. There was supposed to be pain on the punctured skin, but all I felt was electric tingles dancing across the parts his skin came into contact with mine. My wolf purred on the inside, enjoying his touch, but the bond couldn't fool me.

Normally, I would have been shivering from the cold, but I felt warm. My clothes had shredded during the shift, but Thierry had been kind enough to drape a jacket over me.

I felt half complete now that my wolf had finally surfaced. I felt like a totally different woman. Every single sense of mine was heightened, my vision was more clear, I could pick up sounds even as far as outside the chamber. Silas had insisted I didn't have a wolf, that I was weak, spineless and didn't deserve to have one but now, I knew I was normal.

'You, a rogue, my mate? ' He let go forcefully, standing up with his strong muscular arms flailing in the air. I recoiled further on the wall, trying to make myself invisible. I knew growing up that mates were goddess given gifts. I also knew that they brought happiness in one's life. They were the other half of werewolves, the male ones protected the female ones.

Looking at him pacing on the concrete floor with his back tense, muscles straining his shirt, I knew I wasn't the type of female he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. The apparent realization that he didn't want me brought forth a heavy feeling in my heart. I could feel the organ beating faster than usual. My attempts to swallow the lump in my throat failed.

My head hang as I shivered, snaking my arms around myself. My mind went back to my mother's words and for once she was wrong. She had told me that finding my mate would bring the best feeling I have ever felt. She said it would be the freedom my wolf and I would enjoy each day. That our mate would love us unconditionally, he would die for us if need be.

I shook my head knowing very well that the alpha would do no such thing for me. Instead he would kill me and get rid of me like the useless rogue I was before his eyes. I bit my lip painfully, the metallic taste of blood coating my tongue.

'Alpha, the moon goddess doesn't make mistakes. ' I slowly lifted my head to look at Thierry, fearful for his utterance. A heavy silence followed after his words, it lasted for a few seconds before the alpha exploded.

'Get the fuck out! ' I closed my eyes as Thierry, Jasper and cane shuffled out of the room, locking the metallic door.

I am finished.

I whispered as the tense atmosphere became clogged with uncomfortable silence. 'Who send you? '

I snapped my head up at his calm question. His demeanour though was anything but calm, the man's face was contorted into a scowl. Mastering strength, I whispered.

'No one. ' He looked at me pointedly with a raised eyebrow. His eyes dipped to my thumb but everything was healed now that I had a wolf. I didn't feel any physical pain, every single wound and injury was long healed.

'Lies! You are a fucking liar!' I flinched at the ascent of his voice, it screamed pure terror and yet somehow I loved how manly it sounded.

'They send you to spy on me, to trick me into thinking that you are my mate.' He trailed off, staring at the spot on the wall behind me. I had no idea about who he was referring to.

'It's their plan so that they can use you as my weakness and strike. ' It was my turn to stare at him as if he were out of his mind.

'But I, ' He tapped on his chest with his head raised high as he finally turned his intense gaze to me.

'Alpha Jaxon will not fall into their trap. ' I gasped, shaking my head. The only thing I heard in his statement was his name.

'Alpha Jaxon. '
