The Rebirth of the Betrayed Alpha novel Chapter 52

Chapter 52

Pretending to be Alright

As Nathaniel drove off, Alexandra continues to stare at the spot where his car was parked. She couldn't deny the fact that she missed him but he hurt her again. His sharp words pierced her heart like a sword cutting deep living a big hole that nothing can fill up except him.

"Nathaniel" she runs her hand through her hair, tears brims down her cheeks but she quickly wipes them off remembering she was still out in the street and there could be eyes boring into her skin, watching her looking for what to say about the Alpha candidate. Alexandra clutches onto her garment, biting her lower lips, she inhales the dusty breeze, a sad smile creeps on her lips but she pushes it aside.

"He isn't here anymore," she thinks to herself standing upright and beginning to walk home, aware that Nathaniel wasn't coming back to take her home as he had said on their way back from the inn.

Strolling down the road, Alexandra could feel the excruciating pain ripping her apart but she had to keep herself together or risk losing everything. Nathaniel may be gone but somewhere in her heart, she wasn't scared of his departure, she was aware he would come back to her and if he doesn't, Alexandra was going to go find him but until then, she needed to make Adam and Olivia pay.

Lost in thought she didn't realize she was already standing in front of her house until she hears the sound of an old radio blare in her ear, Alexandra snaps back to reality staring at the neighbor who always had a radio held up to his ear whenever he cleans out his truck.

Without uttering a word, Alexandra drops her gaze and enters the house, hoping to see her family was greeted by a deafening silence.

"As usual" she exhales, relieved.

Running up the stairs into her bedroom, falls on the bed, tossing her bag aside, Nathaniel's words begin to play in her head and Alexandra runs her hand through her hair, wishing nothing more than to make it stop. He went too far and although she was aware her actions had triggered his choice of words, Alexandra still couldn't fathom why he had to bring up Adam.

That was a blow to her face and trampling upon her esteem, for Adam was her past, one she dreaded and wouldn't in any way wish to get entangled with him. If for anything, all she wanted was to see his corpse lying in the city where she would attend his funeral, watching him burn to the grounds as he is put to rest.

"Of all persons in the world, why him?" She thought, closing her eyes for a moment hoping to see Nathaniel sitting next to her, opens up her eyes only to find herself alone in her bedroom.

"How does he use his imagination to make me appear?" She whispers, closing her eyes again for a moment, and opening it only to find herself alone in the room.

Alexandra runs her hand through her hair, emotions run through her eyes, and she smiles.

"Nathaniel please just this once" she tightens her eyes for a long moment and opens them only to find herself alone in the room.

Alexandra groans, tears crowd her eyes and she turns around, taking the pillow covering her face.

"Why are you crying?"

Hearing the familiar voice in her ear, Alexandra sits up, gazing at Nathaniel sitting on the couch staring at him, he looked just as she had imagined him.

"You look the same" she stares at his perfectly jelled-up hair that he loved to run his hand through

"What are you saying? I'm Nathaniel"

"Of course you are"

Nathaniel stands up, glancing around. "You have a lovely room"

"Yea" she smiles staring at him intently as if he would disappear the moment she breaks her gaze. "I wish I can show you my bedroom"

"He hasn't seen your room" He glances at Alexandra

"No, do you think he will love my bedroom?"

Nathaniel smiles. "Of course, he will" catching a glimpse of a portrait on the table, Nathaniel strolls to the table, and picks up the portrait.

"Is this you?"

Alexandra smiles at her baby picture, it was the only picture she had of herself as a little girl.

"Don't make fun of me"

"You look cute in here, your smile could make the flowers bloom"

Alexandra blushes, he had the perfect lines just like her Nathaniel and she just couldn't stop herself anymore.

"I wish Is him here and not you"

Nathaniel stares into his eyes. "I'm just in your head, just what your mind created, if you want me gone then I will be gone"

Alexandra smiles, and although she wanted Nathaniel to be the one standing in her bedroom, talking to her, she didn't want him gone especially now that Nathaniel was gone and she didn't exactly know when he would be back.

"I want you.." she pauses

"What do you want Alexandra?"

"I want you to…"

"To what?"

"I want you to stay. Please stay"

Nathaniel smiles and she smiles back, her pearly white teeth smiling down at him.

"Can I get you anything? Water? Drink or a book?"

Nathaniel chuckles. "Alexandra"

"Yes," she states, tensing up.

"I'm just your imagination remember"

"Of course, totally forget" she laughs gazing into his eyes, she had a lot to say to him, what to let off her chest so he would realize that she wanted nothing more than to make this work because she believes in her mate despite their differences.

"Are you okay?" Nathaniel asks seeing the look in her eyes.

"Yes I just have a lot to say to him"

"Why didn't you tell him earlier?"

Alexandra runs her hand through her hair. "Maybe I'm just a fool or something I don't know"

Nathaniel smiles, walking closer to her. "You are not a fool, you were just scared and hurt by his words"

"I never expected it"

"Are you sad?"

"A little, I mean it hurt me that he said those words to me but then again maybe I deserve it for hurting him"

"He thinks you played with him, did you?"

"No, I didn't… I… I get that maybe I'm not exactly the ideal woman but I would never play with someone's emotion especially him"

"And why is that?"

"Because…" she exhales. "Because he is my mate and different. Nathaniel is different and I wish I told him that I do want to go with him to his pack but not now"

"When then?"
