Everett slammed the brakes, and the sports car was pushed forward because of inertia. Ariella turned pale, naively thinking that the situation should be over now, right? But then Everett shifted into reverse, and the car backed up for more than a dozen meters before he floored the gas again.
Ariella was totally stunned and couldn't utter a single sound from her throat as she watched helplessly.
There was another loud bang as the Lamborghini's front hit the already damaged rear of the sports car. Ariella leaned her body hard against the passenger seat back, her mind filled with thoughts of how she could go back to twenty minutes ago when she hadn't gotten into this car yet.
It was bad enough that Everett was going crazy, but the owner of the Ferrari was even more insane, shifting into reverse and flooring the gas to go head-to-head with Everett. The engines of the two cars roared like wild beasts, and the tires screeched sharply against the ground.
Sitting in the car with alarms blaring, Ariella felt as if each one was stabbing into her supposedly strong nerves. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore and turned to Everett, saying, "Mr. Carter, calm down a bit, your son is still waiting for you at home!"
Everett's face still had that indifferent look, which made it even more terrifying. Ariella began to believe that Elise wasn't exaggerating - dealing with someone like this wasn't just a matter of reading their mood, but also a matter of life and death.
"Sit tight."
As her thoughts were in turmoil, Everett suddenly spoke. Ariella hesitated for a moment, then quickly found the handle above her head and gripped it tightly.
Everett let go of the gas completely, and the car was immediately pushed backward. He quickly turned the steering wheel, and Ariella felt her right arm hit the car door. In an instant, the car swerved out from under the pressure, and he floored the gas again without saying a word. In just a few seconds, they had left the sports car far behind.
Ariella nervously checked the rear view mirror, relieved that the red sports car didn't catch up. She glanced at the man in the driver's seat, who seemed totally unfazed, as if the deliberately caused, serious car accident had just been a minor, thrilling episode.
As the car returned to a normal pace, Ariella retracted her white-knuckled right hand and tried to relax her left hand, which had crumpled the documents she was holding. She leaned down, picked up the document bag that had fallen to her feet, and silently smoothed out the creases before continuing to read as if nothing had happened.
After a while, a deep male voice came from beside her, "There's tissue in the front compartment."
Hearing Everett's voice, Ariella's heart rate suddenly sped up. Without changing her expression, she opened the storage compartment, took out a tissue, and discreetly wiped the cold sweat from her palm. "Thank you," she said calmly.
Everett said, "Got nothing to say?"
Ariella replied, "How's Theodore's math foundation? I never had a chance to ask you during our previous meetings."
Although Everett's expression remained the same, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, and then he said, "You are not crying and screaming to get out of the car. Must’ve seen a lot in your life, "
Ariella said with a faint smile, "You didn't care about crashing the car, why should I cry?"
Hearing this, Everett stopped talking, and the two of them remained silent until they arrived at the villa area halfway up the mountain. Ariella had previously taught a few students from prominent families when she was studying in N City, but N City was very expensive to live in, so even the most powerful and influential people lived in old courtyards with historical backgrounds, large flats by artificial lakes, or small villas with limited space in the city.
