At 7:30 pm, Ariella and Elise arrived at a hotel in the suburbs. They both got out of the car one after another. Ariella was wearing a black shirt, black pants, and a pair of black flat leather shoes, while Elise was wearing a white mini dress with strap heels.
As soon as Elise got out of the car, she naturally naturally reached out and held Ariella's arm and they walked shoulder to shoulder. She whispered, "Hold me a little."
Ariella said indifferently, "Honey, take off your sunglasses. It's a smooth road ahead."
Elise took off her sunglasses and looked at Ariella as if she had just noticed her all-black outfit. She raised her eyebrows and asked, "Why are you dressed like a bodyguard?"
Ariella replied, "To highlight your boss lady status."
Elise held her chin up and said, "My dad dared to look down on my newly established company. When I got the invitation from him, he said I would definitely be disappointed tonight and tried to talk me out of this before I even started. What kind of person is he?He must be so afraid that
I'll suddenly become richer than him."
Ariella expressionlessly said, "It means Uncle is very competitive. He wants you to depend on him, not the other way around."
The two gagged and walked inside. Along the way, Elise caught a glimpse of a group of middle-aged men talking and laughing.
Ariella followed her gaze and asked, "What's up?"
Elise stared and said, "That guy in the brown pants is Chett Dalton, the vice president of The Seinfield Group. Seinfield is the big shot in the cultural media industry. If I could get in with them, I’d have nothing to worry about in the future."
Ariella said, "Well, what are you waiting for? Go and introduce yourself."
The girls stood nearby, looking pretty but with a predatory gaze like wolves in the woods, waiting for an opportunity. Finally, when the crowd around Chett dispersed, Elise seized the moment and rushed forward.
Elise had studied media in college and had been roommates with Ariella, who was in the mathematics department, for several years. She was great at talking and could turn introverts into chatterboxes. Ariella did not worry about about her social skills and even felt that she had become more talkative because of Elise.
From a distance, Ariella couldn't hear the conversation, but it seemed to be going well. Just when she thought there was hope, someone approached Chett and said something, and he left immediately, leaving his assistant to chat with Elise.
Ariella couldn't gauge Chett's attitude and didn't want to approach him rashly. Instead, she found a seat to wait. Before she could get comfortable, she saw Elise rolling her eyes and walking back. Ariella got up and asked softly, "That was quick."
Elise was fuming, "If it weren't for my dad's constant nagging, telling me not to bring him any trouble before I've sealed the deal myself, I would've punched this bastard!"
Ariella glanced at Chett's assistant, who was also looking at them - specifically, at Ariella.
Annoyed, Elise grabbed Ariella's arm and said, "Don't pay him any attention."
Ariella asked curiously, "What's wrong? Did he have any inappropriate thoughts about you?"
