'First Step' is an educational institution that has risen rapidly in recent years and has been highly sought after by the rich. It's known as the "place to mold geniuses" in the industry.
Around 8 AM, Ariella showed up in the most luxurious area of the CBD, bought breakfast and coffee, and arrived at the company with more than ten minutes to spare before work officially started.
Usually, mornings were pretty dull; even those who arrived early would sit at their desks, either touching up their makeup in front of the mirror or catching up on work on the computer. It was as quiet as the students before an exam. However, today was a special case. As Ariella pushed the door open, she saw a bunch of people gathering together, as if something big had happened.
Someone was facing the door and said, "Hey, she's here."
Ariella looked confused, especially when everyone turned their eyes towards her. She asked, "What's up?"
Jayla said, "You don't know? Marv's in trouble."
Ariella's surprise flashed in her eyes, but she quickly asked with a straight face, "I didn't know. What happened to him?"
"He's been exposed online for partying hard in a nightclub, getting so drunk that he stripped down to his underwear. His wife had to pick him up herself."
"This time, he really embarrassed himself. They didn't even blur the images, and there are more than a hundred people in the company."
"It's bad enough to humilate himself outside, but I heard his wife isn't easy to deal with. He was probably scolded when he got home."
Everyone was chattering, obviously enjoying the gossip. Ariella asked, "When did this happen?"
Someone replied, "The night before last."
The night before last? That was the night she met Marv at Dark Knight! He was beaten up by Everett, so how could he... Could it be that it happened after she left?
Marv had been beaten to a bloody pulp at the time; even if he wanted to party hard, he wouldn't have had the energy. So the only possibility was that someone had set him up.
Ariella quickly sorted out her thoughts, feeling a strange mix of emotions. Seeing her silence, Jayla said, "Isn't Marv your client?"
Ariella replied calmly, "I met him, but we didn't close the deal."
Jayla suddenly smirked, "You've been with the company for a month, and it seems like you haven't closed any deals yet."
Ariella didn't respond, and the others looked on with various expressions. Jayla quickly added, "Oh, I didn't mean anything by it. I just don't understand whether you came here to find a job or a boyfriend. Why are your standards so high that you can't find a single one you like?"
She was obviously mocking Ariella and trying to embarrass her. Ariella wasn't surprised by this sudden attack. After all, she had received a rapid promotion out of nowhere, which not only offended Jayla but also made her colleagues jealous.
Before Ariella could respond, she suddenly heard a familiar male voice behind her: "She might be lacking in many things, but she definitely won't lack boyfriends. So many people are lining up for her."
Ariella turned her head and saw Pizarro's handsome face.
Jayla looked at Pizarro and said with a fake smile, "The handsome Leyba has arrived."
Pizarro glanced at his watch and replied sarcastically, "Just in time for work. Just call me Mr. Leyba, or people will think it's office sexual harassment."
Jayla raised an eyebrow, "You've set the bar pretty low for harassment."
Pizarro said, "Honest people are like that. I don't understand those who constantly harass others. What are they trying to achieve?"
