A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 224

The next morning, Matilda dropped Logan off at school. As they arrived at the grand gates, Logan turned to her with a wave, "Mom, you can go back now! I can manage on my own!"

Matilda lingered by the school entrance for a while after Logan had disappeared inside, suddenly overwhelmed by a wave of emotion. She sighed, contemplating how her little boy was growing up and how, with each passing day, she too was getting older. She pondered her life's journey over the past twenty-five years—what a ride it had been.

Meanwhile, someone discreetly watched Logan enter the school before making a call to Yvan.

"Mr. Boyd, the young master has gone to school. Ms. Thompson escorted him to an elite private academy. I don't think he'll encounter any bullying."

Yvan's gaze darkened, "Keep an eye on him. Call me immediately if anything arises."

"Yes, Mr. Boyd," the caller responded before hanging up and sending a few covertly taken photos to Yvan.

As Yvan clicked open the email, his eyes froze on the images of Matilda and Logan, a mother and son enjoying a world seemingly perfect without him. A sharp pang of pain sliced through his heart as he wondered if Matilda truly found happiness only in his absence.

Jealousy surged through him. Seeing Logan's beaming smile in the photographs felt like a punch to the gut—and he was left powerless to strike back.

In front of him, Logan never showed such an expression of pure joy. The boy seemed to despise him, even daring to use his own life as a threat. As a father, Yvan felt a pathetic sense of failure, unable to even keep his own son close.

Without uttering a word, Yvan stared at the photos for a long while before finally closing the email. He gazed at his desktop's background, his mind drifting into a void before snapping back to reality.
