A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 231

But little did the trio know that their departing silhouettes were etched deeply in Yvan's mind.

From a distance, he watched as Logan was led by Matilda and Orson, crossing the street and getting into the car, looking like a picture-perfect family. The scene was like a slap across Yvan's face. His eyes reddened with fury, and Carl, sensing his turmoil, called out, "Mr. Boyd."

But it was too late. Yvan, driven by a surge of emotion, flung his car door open and stormed toward Matilda's vehicle.

Today, Orson had decided to drive over in a Volkswagen Phaeton. To Yvan, it shook him to his core. A Phaeton? It looked affordable, but it was a luxury ride that cost a pretty penny. A guy in his twenties driving a fully imported Phaeton? He must be a wolf in sheep's clothing!

Logan was seated in the back as Matilda settled herself behind the wheel when suddenly, the window shattered under a furious punch. Matilda screamed—a sharp "Ah!"

Instinctively, Orson pulled her into his arms, then rolled down the window only to see Yvan's enraged face glaring back at him.

"Get out!" Yvan bellowed.

"Are you insane?"

Matilda was trembling all over. "You could have hurt someone! Why can't you leave me alone?"

"Why can't I?!" Yvan reached in, unlocked her door from the inside, and yanked her out. "As long as I'm alive, you’d better be ready to be bothered by me!"

His irrationality made Orson frown. "Let go."

"And who the hell are you?"

Yvan pointed at him, pulling Matilda close. "You think she's easy to fool, huh?"

Orson's voice dropped to a whisper, "Watch your words, they might come back to haunt you."

Yvan scoffed, "I've looked into who you are. This is your last warning. If you lay a finger on Matilda, I won't be gentle!"

"And what right do you have to speak to him!"

Matilda pushed Yvan away, ignoring the blood streaming from his hand and, with tearful eyes, confronted him. "What are we doing, making a scene in the street? I'm divorced; I don’t belong to you anymore, so stop harassing me!"

Yvan's heart turned ice cold as Matilda's shouts echoed in his ears. He stared at her, his fist that had smashed the window trembling, "Matilda, are you with him now?"

"It’s none of your business who I'm with. How many times do I have to tell you? I'm done with your obsession, Yvan!"

Her words were like daggers, and Yvan staggered back, his face pale. Carl hurried over, noticing the wound on his hand and hissed, "Mr. Boyd, you need to get that bandaged—you’re losing too much blood..."

Matilda only then noticed the blood dripping from Yvan's fingertips, evidence of the force with which he had hit the window.
