A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 240

Orson emerged from the back room, clearly fed up with witnessing the lovers' spat. With his cool gaze and lean frame, he positioned himself behind Matilda, "If you want to brawl, take it outside where no one can hear you. You didn't pay for a live showdown."

Matilda and Yvan were silenced by Orson's blunt interruption, exchanging a brief look before Matilda made her choice. "Get out," she said firmly, "I don't want to see you anymore."

And with that, Yvan found himself shut out, standing in the hallway in stunned silence.

He had never expected Matilda's warmth to turn to ice so quickly, as if the treasure he once casually held slipped through his fingers before he could catch it, shattering on the ground.

A sense of bewilderment washed over Yvan. He couldn't understand what was happening to him, only that he felt sick to his core.

Every time he saw that look in Matilda's eyes, his heart ached.

Like a fool, he waited at her door for an hour, but she never came back to open it. He had thought she was just being temperamental, but he never considered the finality of a goodbye from someone who once loved you deeply. She had moved on, and he was left behind—along with all his feelings—locked in the memories of the past.

Yvan paced outside her apartment, fighting the urge to knock again.

He had been the subject of many legends, with tales of his god-like presence. Yet, standing at Matilda's door, he felt as powerless as someone before a tombstone, all his past glories defeated by a door that would not open again.

A delivery guy, passing by with a stack of pizzas, noticed the man's hesitation in front of the door, reaching out as if to knock, but retracting his hand as if shocked by electricity.

Eventually, Yvan turned briskly and walked away, his face ashen.

...

Matilda closed the door and turned to Orson with an apologetic smile. "Sorry you had to see that."

Orson, arms folded across his chest, replied with indifference, "No big deal."

He was the picture of cool detachment, nothing like Gideon except for his appearance.

Matilda tried to smile, "Let's just forget it happened. Logan, time to think about dinner."

When Logan circled around Matilda, it was as if nobody else existed for the two of them. Their world was small and exclusive.
