A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 262

Matilda didn't utter a single word about the so-called scandals being hurled at her; instead, she allowed the reporters to jump to the conclusion that it was all just cutthroat business rivalry.

After making her point, Matilda took a deep breath and continued to address the media crowd below, "That's all I have to say in the way of an explanation. As for the slander, as for Mia, I prefer not to dwell on it, and I'm sure you can understand why. These petty attempts to smear my name are beneath my notice. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask. I'll answer what I can."

She spoke with such precision, adeptly steering the conversation away from the darkness of the rumors to the struggles her studio had faced.

The questions began to pour in. "Did your studio face any difficulties in the beginning?"

"Difficulties? Sure, there were some," Matilda responded, turning her gaze directly into the camera lens to her left, with a knowing smile. "Initially, we needed a substantial amount of capital for the development of various software projects. We even looked into fundraising—searching for those big-shot corporations that were interested in our game and saw potential in our vision. Of course, we faced rejections, but eventually, some believed it was worth the gamble and green-lit our development funds."

'Rejections,' she said, and it was a direct hit at Yvan.

Yvan's eyes narrowed as he watched Matilda command the stage live. Suddenly, he realized that there was something magnetic about this woman, a charm that drew everyone's gaze to her. Each gesture, each smile was captivating.

Why hadn't he seen it five years ago?

Or was it that after five years, having gone through so many trials and tribulations, reinventing herself from the ashes, she had shed any former restraint, becoming even more captivating?

Matilda sat on the stage, coolly fielding question after question from the reporters without any sign of distress. Her responses were meticulous, leaving no room for criticism.

Hala, standing among the crowd, couldn’t help but mutter in admiration, "I used to be a paparazzo, always looking for slip-ups, eager to nitpick, but Matilda's words are airtight."

Orson listened, his gaze growing more intense.

Later, when someone asked about Matilda's relationship with Mia, Matilda kept her smile, calmly stating, "Truth be told, I'm not really acquainted with Miss Mia."

The reporters looked puzzled, "Then why would she blast you on Facebook? Is there a personal feud between you two?"

Matilda put on a thoughtful expression, pondering for a while before replying, "To be honest, I’m as baffled as you are about why she would attack me out of the blue, and so viciously at that. During the interview show we did together, she was quite dismissive of me on set. Any questions I asked, she flat-out ignored. Perhaps I unknowingly offended her at some point, leading to her outburst."

Though her words were diplomatic, the subtext was clear: Mia's animosity towards Matilda wasn't new. Here was Matilda, playing nice on a show, only to be met with cold shoulders for reasons unbeknownst to her.
