A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 290

"My son is missing..." Matilda's voice trembled with anxiety, "Could you please help me check the security footage?"

...

"Logan is gone." Carl's voice carried a sense of urgency that jolted Yvan awake, his bloodshot eyes snapping to his assistant, "Logan is gone?! What could have happened to him? Does Matilda have any enemies out there?"

In that instant, a flurry of questions raced through Yvan's mind, and he made a snap decision, "Check the neighborhood's surveillance cameras now. And track the whereabouts of Orson's family too!"

"Right away, Mr. Boyd." Carl, equally concerned for Logan, immediately set off to get it done. Yvan watched him leave, the office falling back into a heavy silence.

His cigarette burned down to the filter, scorching his fingertips before Yvan jerked back to reality and stubbed it out in the ashtray.

Glancing at the ashtray, he noticed it was overflowing; Yvan had been chain-smoking all day, his office shrouded in a haze of smoke.

He was irritable, feeling like he was falling apart ever since Matilda left, the endless smoking a testament to his fraying nerves.

Carl quickly dug up some information and sent an email to Yvan's inbox. As Yvan clicked it open, his expression darkened.

He dialed Declan, "Hey, it's me. Got a situation that might require pulling some strings with your family's big shots. Think they'd be willing to help?"

Declan, sipping his drink on the other end, chuckled as he heard Yvan's voice, "What's the problem? I'll come right over."

"It's about that Orson fellow, connected to Matilda."

Yvan scrolled through the information on his screen, cursing under his breath, "Damn it, my son's caught up in his mess!"

"Whoa, your son, huh?" Declan laughed, pulling on his coat, "Just wait in your office, daddy's on his way to soothe you."

"Buzz off!" Yvan snapped, ending the call abruptly. He glanced at the screen once more, a cold shadow falling over his handsome face.
