A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 301

The day Matilda was discharged from the hospital, she coincidentally ran into Yvan, who was actually waiting for her on purpose. Maybe he felt the need to explain himself properly. However, Matilda approached him with a neutral expression, met his gaze, and said indifferently, “Excuse me.”

Excuse me.

He had been waiting in agony, only to receive her terse “excuse me.”

In that moment, Yvan felt as if his heart, which he had barely managed to piece back together, shattered once again...

Watching Matilda brush past him, the distance was so short yet felt like a million light-years apart.

He had done everything he could, but he couldn't get back to her side.

...

Upon leaving the hospital, Matilda took advantage of the tail end of the working hours to drop by the office. Orson was still absent, and without him, the studio felt somewhat dull.

“Man, I miss the days when Orson was around.”

Luna slumped over the desk, “This is bad, our studio’s resident heartthrob has vanished.”

“Should we call the cops?” Hala glanced at Yoshi, who was engrossed in studying a human anatomy model. Catching Hala’s look, Yoshi instantly responded, “No, no, that won’t be necessary. I think Orson just disappeared for a bit. He’ll come back eventually.”

“How do you know?” Baxter gave him a look, “What if something happened?”

“Let’s not jump to conclusions. Orson’s always been reliable. Let’s wait a bit longer.” Matilda wasn't sure if she was comforting the others or herself. Looking at the empty space beside her, she remembered the first time she met Orson. He had popped his head out from a pile of draft papers and sleepily handed her an instant coffee.

So close, as if it was just yesterday. Yet so far, as if everything had vanished.

“With Orson gone, the heavy burden of designing falls on our goddess again.” Baxter tossed an instant coffee her way, “This is for you! Don’t quit, all the instant coffee can be yours!”

If Matilda left too, the studio probably wouldn’t survive the blow.
