A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 363

Yvan had no idea what kind of news he would hear standing outside Matilda's hospital room. But as Adrian's words reached his ears, his heart skipped a beat, his breathing quickened, and his entire body felt numb as if the blood had drained from it.

Turning around, Yvan's tall silhouette walked alone through the corridor, his steps growing larger and faster until he reached the hospital's elevator. Just as Carl stepped out of the elevator, he collided with the rushing Yvan.

Carl took a step back, "I'm sorry, Mr. Boyd, we've found a way to alleviate Ms. Thompson's memory stress..."

Yvan paused, his eyes slightly red. Turning to Carl, he said, "Give me the files."

"Aren't you going to visit her in the room?"

He had rushed off from work so eagerly to see Matilda, and now he was ready to leave without even seeing her.

Without a word, Yvan stepped into the elevator, followed by Carl, who was puzzled but remained silent.

Looking at Yvan's face, it was clear. He was holding back, struggling, with so much unsaid.

...

Adrian was dumbfounded, his mouth agape.

Matilda solemnly apologized to Adrian and then, with an innocent look, said, "I can't accept your feelings because I don't remember you."

This excuse was perfect, universal, covering everything with a simple 'I don't remember!'

She was dodging responsibility with ease!
