A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 442

Rachel was still alive; the murder plot from years ago turned out to be a sick joke.

He was finally bitten by his own mistakes.

Carl quickly dug up the truth, which closely matched Rachel's account, but Yvan couldn't shake the feeling that something was still amiss.

Something wasn't right... Rachel reappeared too swiftly after Ella was left in a vegetative state, and it made him deeply uneasy.

He had already lost Matilda, already failed her and their son. Now, with Rachel's return, how was he supposed to cope?

That night, Yvan found himself alone at a dive bar, nursing a drink, when fate had it that Matilda and Criss were there too, celebrating with friends. Yvan sat in a secluded corner, lost in thought, when Logan, on his way back from the restroom, noticed him.

The boy paused.

Feeling someone's gaze, Yvan looked up and locked eyes with Logan. In that moment, Yvan thought about how things could have been different—if he and Rachel had a normal marriage, without dragging Matilda through so much pain.

“You’ve had too much to drink,” Logan broke the silence in English.

Surprised to hear his son speak in English, Yvan quickly responded, “Good evening.”

Off-topic.

Logan frowned, “Are you here stalking my mom?”

Straight to the point as ever.
