A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 473

Keaton stuffed his hands in his pockets, straightening up with a look of sheer disinterest. "I can't be bothered with you guys, simply because you disgust me. Rachel, don't try to be too clever with your little schemes. There's no need to put on a show for me; I don't have the time for your self-deception."

"Here's a piece of advice for you: what goes around, comes around. Those who do wrong will get their comeuppance."

With a scoff, Keaton didn't linger any longer and walked away. The Boyd family's front door shut before Rachel's eyes. A servant, pushing a wheelchair, called out softly, "Madam…"

Before even entering, they were already addressing her as 'Madam.'

Rachel's face went through a myriad of changes, finally settling on a grimace. "Push me back!"

It seems she had gotten quite adept at bossing around the Boyd family's servants.

Back at the Boyd mansion, seeing Opal lying in bed, Rachel put on a pitiful face and whispered, "Grandma…"

Opal let out a cold laugh without a word.

Trying to butter her up, Rachel suggested, "How about I take you on a little getaway these next few days, to clear your mind? Maybe Yvan could join us, what do you think?"

The idea of including Yvan seemed to make Opal look at her properly for the first time, though her lips curled into a cold smile, making her unapproachable.

Rachel felt that she had finally made a slight change in Opal's attitude when out of nowhere, a news scandal threw all her efforts back to square one.

Gritting her teeth, she moved forward to massage Opal's hands. Despite being wheelchair-bound herself, she spent every day trying to please another.

It was winter break, and Lynn had been practicing her writing in the study. When she came out and saw her mother cautiously speaking to her great-grandmother, her mind was consumed with how to make the old lady happy. In her own home, Lynn felt like she had no place. Violet didn't care for them either, leaving Lynn feeling somewhat melancholy.

"Is the world always this cruel and heartless?"
