Rachel's face turned ashen, anxiety evident in her eyes as she glanced at Carl, fearing he might pick up on something. But seeing his impassive expression, she felt a bit relieved and turned her teary eyes towards Adrian.
Her face, still the picture of innocence and purity, made her seem far more naive and kind-hearted compared to Ella's cunning and malice.
"Adrian, I had my reasons back then. Can't you think better of me?" she pleaded.
Adrian jerked his hand away with a scowl, "I can't trust a single word coming out of your mouth!"
Stunned, Rachel watched as Adrian walked away, calling after him, "Adrian! Adrian!"
Originally planning to visit Yvan, Rachel, terrified that Adrian might spill the beans about the past, quickly changed the direction of her wheelchair and followed Adrian down the silent office hallway, calling out, "Adrian!"
"Don't call my name!"
Adrian turned around, his blue-green eyes ablaze with a striking beauty in his fury, "From the moment I was imprisoned, Rachel, there was nothing left between us."
So she wanted to be the lady of the Boyd family, huh? Fine, he'd grant her that!
"Adrian, you're blaming me."
Rachel choked up, "It's all Ella... it was all Ella..."
"Ella's now in a vegetative state, unconscious," Adrian sneered as if he was the devil himself. "You can't throw dirt on her now; she can't fight back."
Rachel's face went pale, then she quickly shifted gears, "So, you still hate me, is that it?"
