A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 501

The dinner was nothing short of lavish, and Matilda's closest pals—Chloe and Criss—were there, making it a memorable evening. They all gathered around the table, Logan was sipping on orange juice on the side, while Godfrey meticulously sliced the steak for everyone, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere.

“Matilda lost a keychain on her way here,” Criss started, patting his belly full from dinner. “It’s just a keychain. She was fussing over it as if she had lost a child. We’ll just get her a new one, out with the old, in with the new.”

“Ha, what keychain?” Chloe saw right through Matilda, “Wasn’t it that pair of little heart pendants you bought for Yvan that he never wanted?”

Matilda’s cheeks flushed red instantly, realizing she couldn’t share everything with her BFFs. “Stop it, that was so long ago!”

“Tsk tsk, can't let go of the past, huh?” Chloe had recovered well. Godfrey had taken her in when her arms were riddled with needle marks, his heart aching seeing her in that state. After staying at his apartment for a while, being well-fed and cared for, Chloe’s complexion improved, and she slowly emerged from Declan’s shadow.

It was clear; she had gradually healed under Godfrey’s care.

“It’s not about clinging to the past,” Matilda sighed, “It’s about losing something that held so many personal memories and emotions. It feels like losing a part of my past self.”

“I get that feeling,” Chloe said with a sympathetic smile, “When Declan smashed the coffee maker I bought him right in front of me, I felt the same way.”

Matilda remained silent for a while before saying, “Maybe I’ll come to terms with it once Criss gets me a new one.”

“In the end, it’s all about seeking the new and forgetting the old,” Criss said, lounging and pointing as if he owned the place. “Don’t worry, just like moving on from a man, you’ll get over the hurt Yvan caused you.”
