The following evening, Logan's inbox pinged with a new message from R7CKY, unraveling the recent turmoil within the Jungle Union. Word was that Hadrian had fallen ill and been admitted to the hospital, and with Orson nowhere to be found, Chad seemed to be wielding unchecked power. No wonder he harbored thoughts of wiping out the competition.
Reading through the email, Logan stumbled upon the name of the hospital where Hadrian was admitted—a top-notch, highly secure military facility. Only those with significant clout could gain entry. Logan promptly forwarded the intel to Yvan, both father and son sharing the same determination to protect Matilda.
Meanwhile, Yvan was in the midst of a meeting at his company when Rachel, looking frail in her wheelchair, and Lynn, pale and visibly shaken, were escorted in.
Yvan's brow furrowed in annoyance. Why did they always show up unannounced?
Lynn's timid voice broke the silence, "Daddy..."
Yvan took a deep breath, managing to keep his temper in check in front of Lynn. He crouched down, "Did you come looking for me?"
Rachel realized she had become invisible to Yvan.
Why had things changed so drastically?
Yvan was hers from the start. Why was he so bewitched by Matilda now, his heart seemingly lost to that woman?
Yet, Rachel held back her tears, forcing a smile, "Yvan, Lynn... she said she missed her daddy, so I brought her to see you..."
Yvan took Lynn's hand, noticing her flinch. The fear and longing in the little girl's eyes were palpable, fearing she'd be rejected at any moment.
She knew Yvan didn't really like her; the only reason she'd seen any kindness was because of Matilda.
If only he could truly be her father...
