Did you and Yvan tie the knot already? Got the nerve to call someone mom without that?
Rachel's face turned ghostly pale, words failing her. Opal, with a voice that belied her years but was icy cold, intervened, "In the Boyd family, I call the shots! If I say Rachel is our future granddaughter-in-law, then so be it!"
Matilda let out a mocking laugh, "Always claiming to dictate the Boyd family's choices, then why haven't you married off Yvan to Rachel? It's not you and Rachel who'll be walking down the aisle, is it, Opal?"
Her sarcasm sent the room into fits of laughter.
Luna clutched her belly, chuckling, "Oh, my sides! Opal getting a bride? Ha, stepping in for Yvan to get hitched! Impressive! Can't understand you rich folks."
Hala, with a knowing look, added, "Laugh all you want, but it might just be true! With Yvan looking all shiny out there, maybe he's just a puppet under Opal's thumb. She's the real power behind the throne."
"The real power behind the throne! Haha!" Yoshi laughed so hard his pajama's tail wagged, "Look at the old lady, turning green with envy! All this worry at her age, she won't last long."
Opal, hearing them curse her longevity, was so infuriated she trembled, "You people are beyond rude!"
"Well, to my eyes, you're barely human."
Baxter sneered, "Respect is mutual. But with you barging in here, all high and mighty, why should we bother showing any respect?"
"And who are you to talk!"
