A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 596

His body was riddled with wounds, and the pain forced his mind into a state of unwanted clarity. With eyes wide open and a hoarse voice, Orson's vision began to clear.

Logan, spotting Orson's eyes flutter open, exclaimed with joy, "He's awake!"

Shifting his gaze, Orson caught sight of the man standing beside him—Yvan, whose aura was as if a deity had descended, yet his eyes and brows were edged with a cold indifference.

The last person Orson wanted to see was the very one who had saved him.

Logan, ever so sweet, poured Orson a glass of warm water, "Uncle Orson, are you thirsty?"

Looking at the angelic little boy, hearing him call out that title 'Uncle Orson' again, Orson's gaze deepened unexpectedly.

"Logan."

His first words were raspy yet firm, "You...know everything?"

Yvan didn't join the exchange between Logan and Orson, merely watching his son with concern as he helped Orson drink, then holding his hand, he said, "Uncle Orson, I know everything."

He knew it all—the truth about Matilda's identity and the blood ties between him and their family.

Orson reached out, but his arm was wounded, and he could only manage a weak smile, one that seemed profoundly sad.

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you better."

"It's okay." Logan gently covered Orson with a blanket, then hopped off the bed, "I can protect you too."
