A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 623

Chad's gun was no toy, but Yvan's calm demeanor in such a tense moment felt like a slap to Chad's face!

He refused to believe this man didn't know fear!

Behind Chad, his crew, all heavily armed, aimed their guns at Yvan. Yet, as Yvan walked towards them with his hands raised, his expression didn't show a hint of being under duress.

Seeing Yvan like this, Chad cocked his gun with a click. Yvan's brow furrowed slightly. Chad smirked, "Afraid of dying?"

"Afraid."

Yvan's answer was straightforward, but his resolute expression made his words seem less than genuine. "Everyone's afraid of dying, you included."

Chad burned with rage at Yvan's retort. Then, Godfrey emerged from a car, prompting Chad to shift his gun towards Godfrey's chest with a whistle, "Look who decided to show up? Isn't this the Walker family's golden boy from White City?"

Godfrey's face was a mask of ice, a rare expression for him, only shown when pushed to the brink. "Let Chloe go!"

"Let her go? Sure! Beg me on your knees, and maybe I'll consider it!"

With a snap of his fingers, Chad ordered, "Bring them out!"

Rachel and Chloe were pushed forward, both women's hands tied behind their backs. Seeing Godfrey, Chloe's voice broke through her tears, "Godfrey!"

"Chloe!" Godfrey's heart twisted at the sight of her. He had wanted to protect her, yet she was still hurt!

"Oh, playing the devoted lovers now, are we?"
