A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 655

It was another bustling afternoon at the office, and Matilda had just grabbed some documents before heading back to her workspace. Carl approached her, breaking the silence, "You've got the schedule for this week, right?"

"Yeah," Matilda glanced at it briefly. "I need to attend a charity gala in Australia the day after tomorrow. Do you have someone in mind who could accompany me?"

Carl hesitated for a moment before saying, "Well, as for a male companion, I'm afraid there's no one within the company who possesses the stature and status required to attend with you."

"What about outside the company?" Matilda massaged her temples, a gesture Yvan used to perform with familiar ease. "Orson? No, he's busy managing Jungle Union with his dad. Baxter and Yoshi are tied up with their gaming projects, and both Criss and Eugene are booked solid..."

Carl quietly suggested, "What about Declan?"

Matilda's eyes widened in disbelief, "Him? No way, I'd probably end up arguing with him."

Carl nodded in agreement. After all, Chloe and Godfrey were enjoying their blissful married life. Inviting Declan could potentially stir up trouble, which was the last thing they wanted.

"How about Adrian?" Carl mentioned another name. "I could try setting up a meeting with Adrian. He might be available."

Adrian's fondness for Matilda was well-known far and wide.

Rumors were swirling that Adrian was courting the lady of the Boyd Group. He was always dropping by with food and making sure she was well-supported, ready to defend Matilda against anyone who dared look down upon her. The question on everyone's lips was what Mr. Boyd would think of this, especially since he hadn't been heard from in a while.

Matilda let out a sigh, her mind made up. "I'll ask him myself later."

Carl couldn't help but notice how tired Matilda looked, but in an instant, she was back to her usual spirited self, as if the fatigue had been nothing but an illusion.
