A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 661

"Dump your husband, let me in."

Could the old Yvan ever say something so reckless and flirtatious?

Matilda stared at the man before her, disbelief painting her features. "You're joking, right?"

"Okay, think of it as a joke if you want. The gentleman act was just to woo you, but wanting you in my bed, that's real." Yvan shrugged, a rueful smile on his face as he raised his hands in surrender. "I swear, the moment I saw you, I just... wanted something more."

Matilda felt like she was about to faint from anger. What kind of jerk talks like that? Did he really think she was some easy pick-up?

Her eyes reddening, Matilda spat out, "You're not him."

Yvan stepped closer, his posture bowing slightly, a sleek line forming along his spine as he gazed down at the strangely acting young woman before him. His dark pupils seemed to hold the night sky within them, stars falling into his gaze. When he smiled, it felt like the whole world receded behind him— "Him? You mean your husband, or an ex-boyfriend?"

Matilda was silent for a long moment before she finally spoke, "I don't have an ex-boyfriend."

Only an ex-husband.

But to Yvan, that sounded completely different, as if she had gone straight from a first love to marriage.

Yvan frowned, clearly annoyed. "No matter. You can just kick that guy to the curb now."

Matilda was frozen. "Why?"

Why would he make such a sudden, rude suggestion?

"Because, I think you should consider me."

Yvan leaned closer, feeling an inexplicable pull towards Matilda's face. There was something magical about her, something that made him lose all sense of reason and want to be near her.

Matilda, seeing the transformed Yvan, felt a surge of danger. He seemed entirely different, his aura now menacing and aggressive.
