Chloe was always one for quick decisions. The very next morning, just as Matilda was rubbing the sleep from her eyes, Chloe burst through the door, practically yanking her out of bed.

"What the...?" Matilda, still groggy, protested. "I just woke up..."

"Mark's here," Chloe announced, as matter-of-factly as if she were talking about the weather.

Matilda's yawn cut short, swallowed by a mix of shock and sudden alertness. "What did you say?"

"No joke," Chloe responded. "Mark's downstairs in the living room, waiting for you!"

Matilda couldn't believe it. Just the night before, Chloe had mentioned setting her up with a guy, and now, here she was, with said guy actually waiting in their living room. That was classic Chloe for you!

Before Matilda could process any further, Chloe was pushing her towards the bathroom. "Hurry up and make yourself presentable. Brush your teeth, wash your face, and come out."

"I can't hang out with Mark today," Matilda frowned. "I need to go to the office to sort out my resignation."

"Why not have Mark accompany you to the office then?"

Chloe didn't even look up as she threw out the suggestion. "You're resigning anyway. Might as well have a man by your side to make a statement. Plus, I bet there'll be a bunch of people there making snide remarks. With someone by your side, it'll be easier to handle."

Especially if that someone was Mark, the winter break heartthrob.
