A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 755

Keaton watched Declan fall apart, feeling utterly powerless. It was a familiar tale among his friends; they never appreciated what they had until it was gone. And by then, the regret was as sharp as a knife, but utterly useless.

What good was regret? Could it bring back the love that Matilda and Chloe once had for them?

There's an old saying that what goes around, comes around. Declan had treated Chloe like nothing more than a pawn, disregarding her reputation and dignity, exploiting her love for him to benefit his business. He saw her loyalty as servitude, taking her sacrifices for granted.

Then, in a cruel twist, he tarnished her innocence, wounded her deeply, and threw her out like yesterday's news.

Keaton couldn't help but draw parallels between Declan and Yvan's ruthlessness.

And now, karma had caught up with Declan just like it had with Yvan.

Yvan clapped Declan on the back, attempting to break through his friend's wall of misery. "Alright, spill it. What's eating you up inside?"

"I'm a complete mess!" Declan finally snapped, hurling his glass across the room. But thanks to the plush, expensive carpet, the glass didn't even break, let alone satisfy his need to destroy something.

Unbroken. Just like his torment, unending.

"I just told her to get lost, so why the hell am I the one suffering? She's out there, probably happy with some other guy, and I'm here, miserable. How is that fair?"

"Declan..." Yvan didn't know where to start, seeing his friend in such a state. "Do you love Chloe?"
