A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 774

Yvan felt a sting when Matilda uttered those words.

He released Matilda's hand he had been holding so tightly, only to watch helplessly as she walked away with Logan, their figures gradually disappearing from sight. That scene haunted Yvan, turning into a recurring nightmare that he couldn't shake off.

As they headed upstairs, Logan asked, "Mom, what do you think being friends really means?"

"It's like this," Matilda responded indifferently, "keeping it casual, respecting boundaries, not probing too deep, and not dwelling on the past."

That's how it is, laughing without getting too emotionally involved.

Logan lowered his eyes, letting Matilda guide him towards the elevator. As the elevator doors closed behind her, it felt like two worlds slowly drifting apart.

Finally home, Matilda sighed. Recent events had piled up one after another, from the Boyd Group crisis now being a thing of the past to dealing with a friend getting hurt. She rubbed her temples, a habit she couldn't break, reminiscent of Yvan in so many ways, ingrained in her over the years.

"Matilda?" Chloe and Godfrey were baking cookies in the kitchen. Seeing Matilda, they greeted her with a smile, "Hey, we've been meaning to talk to you about something."

Looking up, Matilda saw Chloe's mischievous expression. "We want to invite you to be a judge and the ambassador for the Star Film Festival, specifically for the European region. What do you think?"

Pointing at herself in surprise, Matilda said, "Me? I don't know much about that. If you're looking for design work, I could help."

"No, the organizers are looking for a legendary woman with a myriad of talents," Chloe explained, giving Matilda a once-over. "Since you're free, why not add 'ambassador' to your title? It's not a bad deal."
