A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 78

Chapter 78

Matilda shivered slightly as she spoke to Yvan’s mother, Violet, with a cool

detachment, Mrs. Boyd, I don’t think we’re close enough to call each other’s name like that.”

Logan immediately stepped to Matilda’s side, his eyes wary as he watched Violet. His guarded look sent a chill through Violet’s heart; her grandson seemed to harbor deep resentment towards the Boyd family

Violet let out a helpless smile that masked more emotions than Matilda could decipher; she had no idea if the former still hated her or was feeling guilty

Violet said, The feuds between usshouldn’t involve the kid. Matilda, I don’t expect you to end up with my son, but Logan is indeed Yvan’s boy. Could you perhaps teach him to let go of some of that distance?”

A mother’s plea for her son how moving

And what about her? Why was everyone always asking things of her, never considering what they themselves might have done wrong

Matilda’s eyes reddened as she looked up sharply, her voice tinged with sarcasm, I’m sorry, Mrs. Boyd, but the feuds between us indeed have nothing to do with the kid. However, Logan was born while I was in lockup; he’s unrelated to Yvan, and there’s no question of any feud.”

Violet walked down the steps, ordering a servant to take the things from Matilda’s hands. Matilda didn’t resist, handing over the bag of snacks to the servant, and then turned to Logan, I’ve brought you your favorite Pippilo tales, along with those snacks you love.”

Wow!”

Logan was thrilled, not even minding Violet’s complex expression, I’m so happy! Mommy, can you come to see me more often?”

Matilda’s hand on his head trembled slightly, Mommy’s got a lot of workbut I’ll surely come whenever I can.”

Behind her, Gideon stepped forward with a smile for his little nephew, Don’t worry, I’ll take you out for some fun.”

Hmph, I don’t want Uncle Gideon.Logan pouted, his features strikingly similar to Yvan’s, I just want Mommy.”

Chapter

Violet watched the family banter at the doorstep, feeling like an outsider. Her own grandson she might never grow close to him

With that thought, Violet spoke again, Matilda, if you have some time, you could stay here for a while.”

This was her biggest compromise, hoping that by having Matilda stay and care for Logan, he would integrate into the Boyd family more quickly

But Matilda just let out a soft laugh, one that seemed laced with disdain, Stay? I’m sorry, Mrs. Boyd, but if it weren’t for Logan, I couldn’t stand being in this house for one more second.”

Violet’s face paled at the blunt words, Matilda, are you blaming me”

Matilda’s sharp interruption cut through Violet’s words, Mrs. Boyd, Yvan and I were divorced five years ago. We severed ties. Please, don’t try to manipulate me with kinship or past affections. I cannot accept it!”

She couldn’t accept it
