A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 794

Why... why is this happening...

The people haven't even been rescued yet... Isn’t this the time when everyone should pull together? Why... why is it so chaotic?

The streets look like a scene straight out of hell, filled with shouting, shoving, and the sound of machinery clashing. Some folks are so angry, they're practically spitting out curses.

Human nature... in all its ugliness and beauty.

Still, there's a group of people clinging to their last bit of sanity, helping the cops maintain some semblance of peace. Matilda couldn’t stand by any longer. Together with Criss, they grabbed a microphone from a TV crew, found a spot on a mound of rubble, and shouted—“Can everyone just stop yelling!”

Everyone paused, turning their attention to the sight of a slender woman standing amidst the dust, her face smeared with dirt, obviously affected by the explosion. But her eyes were resolute, her voice shaky yet filled with an unwavering determination—

“We’re all people of Sea City, why are we hurting each other at a time like this? To the victims’ families, come this way. The police aren’t playing favorites; they’re doing their best to rescue your loved ones. Let’s not add to the police's burdens; and to the reporters, if you have a shred of decency, consider standing with us, the people. Put down your cameras and help out, will you? There’s a massive fire going on, and saving even one life is worth it!”

“Other than the official media with their helicopters for live broadcasts, can other TV stations please stop aggravating the victims’ families? They're possibly facing the loss of their loved ones and friends, that’s why they're lashing out. Let's all take a step back, clear the way for the police, and let the professionals handle the rescue. We can support with discipline and logistics, okay?”

When your friends are in danger, can you really be in the mood for interviews?

We’re all human here; their pain is real. Don’t add to their despair!

After Matilda finished her speech, the wind whistled through the microphone, accompanied by a buzzing background noise. The crowd fell silent.

Some reporters, tears welling up in their eyes, threw their expensive cameras to the ground. “I’m done reporting! I want to help save lives! Officer, is there anything I can do to help?”
