Serena couldn't remember the old lady. Standing at the door and listening to their conversation, she felt like she must have known Elizabeth before.
"Poor girl." Elizabeth released the two and stumbled towards Serena, taking her hand. "Yvie, why are you looking at me like that? Have you forgotten me?"
Facing Elizabeth, Serena felt a sense of unfamiliarity. She glanced at Veronica for help, only to see Veronica nod slightly.
She smiled and said, "Hello, ma'am, I..."
"Mother, Yvie has lost her memory," Conrad suddenly explained.
Elizabeth was surprised. "How could she lose her memory again? What has she been through all these years? Poor child."
Her wrinkled hand touched Serena's cheek, and her cloudy eyes were filled with pity. She knew about Conrad and Serena's past, but she was too old to do anything about it. She couldn't compete with Conrad, nor could she influence his actions. Naturally, Elizabeth felt guilty towards Serena.
"It's okay, ma'am, I'm fine, don't worry," Serena smiled and quietly withdrew her hand. Regardless, Serena was not used to being close to others.
Even if the elderly lady in front of her was kind and gentle, she couldn't accept it.
"Mother, don't worry. I will stay with Yvie in the future and help her regain her memory," Conrad said elegantly, smiling lightly.
Upon hearing Conrad's words, everyone's expressions darkened.
Veronica wished she could approach Conrad and give him a beating, but she refrained from saying anything because Elizabeth was present.
