AUTHOR’S POV
After the meaningful encounter with Grandfather Albert, Sara walked back to Silas’s room. She had some difficulty finding the room but the butler helped her.
Standing in front of the door, she now wondered about her plans. Was this a good choice? She didn’t know.
She could get back at him first and they could talk later, like Silas suggested.
Turning the doorknob, Sara entered the room without knocking and found Silas sitting on his bed leisurely.
Poor Sick Silas. She t’ched internally and walked over to him.
“ So? Now, you know you can not run away from here. ” He folded his arms over his chest and poked his inner cheek with his tongue.
“ Yeah. I know I can’t run away. ” Sara whispered, strolling toward the connected doors to check everything out.
“ What are you doing? ” Silas asked suspiciously. She was too calm at this time and too calm Sara was never okay.
“ I am checking out my new room. ” Sara replied nonchalantly and turned around to face him.
“ You are staying? ” Silas gave her a side look, his mind trying to come up with every single possible reason behind her calmness.
“ I am staying. I will calm down just like you said and then we will talk. We both need time. ” Sara clasped her hands together, a creepy smile growing on her lips.
“ Okay. ” Silas squinted his eyes, something not settling well with him.
***
Night fell and Sara placed three pillows in the center of the bed, declaring their spots. A fight was supposed to happen if Silas went against the rules and crossed over the boundary. She was angry and he didn’t want to anger her anymore so he agreed over it after much protest.
Now, as they both laid in the bed side by side staring at ceiling with a huge distance between them, they thought about the same question. ‘ What now? ’
“ How hard earning your forgiveness is going to be? ” Silas inquired, glancing at Sara’s side profile.
Was this just in his head or she was really a little pale and different? Different in what sense, he didn’t know but she just seemed different.
“ I don’t know. We have a whole life for this though. You can try for the rest of our lives. ” Sara answered making Silas gulp.
“ Oh – Okay. Good. ” He whispered to himself and turned his head straight to stare at the ceiling again.
“ You could have died. ” Sara spoke after a while, grabbing Silas’s attention.
‘ And if you had not saved me, our unborn child could have been hurt. ’ She wanted to say this too but not yet. He held the truth back for so long and she was determined to hold the truth back now.
“ I would have died in both situations. A life without you can barely be called a life now. ” Silas whispered, turning his head to stare back at her.
Sara’s heart began beating faster, her eyes drowning in his light brown orbs.
This feeling…This feeling seemed like it was never going to go away. This feeling of affection.
An urge to reach out to him and touch his face in this moment was strong.
It was so hard to imagine even a day without with him, how was she going to live without him after the divorce? She didn’t know.
“ Is there something else you are not telling me? ” Sara inquired, her eyes boring in his.
Silas blinked, a lump forming in his throat.
“ Gabriel died due to poisoning. Rowan killed him and tried to frame you. You are not a murderer. ” Silas revealed the truth to her in one go, not wanting to hold back anymore.
