AUTHOR’S POV
“ I want divorce, Silas. ” After she said this out aloud, Silence consumed them both for a while.
Silas was expecting an outburst, an angry tantrum but not this rushed decision of separation for life.
He set his lips in a thin line, his eyes narrowing down to observe her closely. She was avoiding eye – contact with him.
“ Repeat it. ” He spoke slowly, his tone deadly. “ Say it again, Sara. ”
Sara lifted her head, her gaze settling on his light brown orbs. Did he think he could scare her into changing her decision? No, he couldn’t do it anymore.
“ You had a chance. I gave you one. You could have told me, but you didn’t. Why? Because, you didn’t trust me like I did? Or were you just taking advantage of my love? What was it that you tried to achieve by pretending to be someone else? ” Sara got up from the chair, her eyes glaring at Silas who sat unmoving.
“ I…I just wanted to see if we could really be together or not. I didn’t want you to be with me just for money. ” Silas let out truthfully while he realized how stupid he sounded to even himself.
“ For money? ” Sara averted her eyes away, her mind travelling through memories. “ You are right. I am just a money hungry bitch then why don’t you just divorce me and we can go our separate ways? You can find someone good – someone innocent unlike me. ”
Silas was speechless. Either she was understanding everything wrong or he was too bad at making her understand his point.
“ How could you…How could you even talk about divorce? It’s not like something devastating has happened! I still love you. I loved you in all situations. ” Silas tried to reason out and pushed the duvets away from his body.
“ That’s because you knew me. I didn’t. I didn’t know who you were. I don’t even know if you are really that caring and loving person I knew or if you are just some kind of obsessed psychopath who was fooling me from the very start! ” Sara burst out, her face turning red and her breaths coming out in pants.
Silas got up from the bed, anger beginning to cloud his mind.
‘ You did wrong, Silas. Don’t get angry at her. ’ A voice inside his head whispered and his shoulders slumped down.
“ I am sorry. I am saying sorry. I know I did wrong. I, too realized it just a few days later but it was too late to tell you. I feared this…This anger of yours. I feared you were going to leave me just like you are doing right now. ” Silas sighed out, walking toward Sara who paddled back making him stop in his way.
“ You ensured I fall in love with you so I find myself unable to leave you? You were manipulating me? Pushing me into a deep hole so I can’t find a way out? ” Sara poked her inner cheek with her tongue, a hurt smile playing on her lips.
“ You played me so well. Even when I caught you talking to Mr. Alexander on the phone, I never doubted you. I never pushed you to provide me an answer. I told you almost everything about me yet you couldn’t even tell me that you were not some orphan I had to feel bad for? ” Sara didn’t know what she was talking anymore. The moment she realized what she had blurted out, it was too late.
Silas heaved a heavy breath, a wave of fury and misery hitting him.
“ I am an ORPHAN but you don’t need to pity me. I wonder if all you felt for me was pity… Perhaps, that’s why it’s so easy for you to ask for divorce. ” Silas’s hurt gaze knocked the breath out Sara but she was too stubborn to give up now.
She was hurting and she was angry. She had told him that she didn’t like being made a fool out of, but he never paid attention to what she was saying. He thought it was a given that she would forgive him for everything.
“ Can’t you forgive me for once? I regret it, I feel bad and I am asking for forgiveness. You still can’t forgive me? ” Silas gulped, his heart aching after seeing her acting so indifferent.
