Naylor pointed to a man standing next to him and said, "Meet Elton, everyone."
Though Naylor was technically the fourth in line among his siblings, he was actually the youngest, which made calling him "Elton" instead of some formal title nothing out of the ordinary.
The man, upon seeing Agnes, showed no sign of surprise. It was as if he had been expecting her all along. From the moment they arrived, his gaze had lingered on Agnes. And now, standing face to face, he extended his hand quite naturally and said, "Septima, nice to meet you."
Agnes half-expected a "long time no see" to follow, which would have been dripping with irony. But upon reflection, they weren't exactly enemies. Besides, with so many years gone by and lives moved on, any old grudges should have been long buried.
Quickly adjusting her mindset, Agnes shook his hand, "Ah, Elton. Fancy seeing you here."
The politeness between them was almost palpable.
Naylor, with a cheeky grin, chimed in, "I believe this is your first meeting, right? Elton's a busy man. Despite being siblings for years, they've never met. We have Phenix to thank for this opportunity."
Then, turning to Jared, Naylor suddenly said, "I've seen you before... where was it again?"
Despite trying, Naylor couldn't quite place him.
"At the Pritchard Mansion," Jared supplied with a calm demeanor.
"Right, at the mansion," Naylor exclaimed, remembering. Agnes didn't seem too fond of Jared back then; they nearly had a spat. What brought him here today?
Naylor, ever the gossip, asked, "Agnes, is this your boyfriend?"
Agnes understood Naylor's confusion. The guy had nothing on his mind but racing, having spent recent times in intensive training at the club. So, it was no surprise he was out of the loop, even if Agnes and Jared had been making headlines.
