Married with the Broken Hearted CEO novel Chapter 78

Adira’s POV
The first thing that I did after knowing that Geoffrey is related to Isa and Chadwick is investigate. When they first met and how they became acquainted with each other.
Geoffrey transferred into Isa and Chadwick’s school during high school. There they made friends, and students called them a trio who cannot be separated. But before graduation, the three suddenly stopped hanging out together, leaving Geoffrey alone while Isa and Chadwick were still good friends.
The reason why their friendship broke isn’t plucking stars up in the night sky. It is so easy to guess.
‘Probably, it is because of a woman.’
Perhaps, Geoffrey avoided them after getting confessed by his stepsister. Or he knew that Chadwick has feelings for Isa, so he gave way.
Whatever the case, I did not put my husband and Geoffrey together on purpose just to mend their broken friendship. Instead, it is their punishment for using me as their gateway to continue their unfinished business with each other.
‘How dare they tried to use me to compete and get satisfaction by winning against each other?’
From the seat inside the cottage, I looked back to see how’s they were doing.
“What are you looking at?” Chadwick mouthed to Geoffrey while glaring at him.
Geoffrey chuckled and replied, “I am not looking at you. I am staring at the chopping board behind you. Can you get it for me?”
My husband picked up the chopping board. But instead of giving it to Geoffrey, he threw it away in the sink. Then he smiled back at Geoffrey.
With blood-shot eyes, Geoffrey gritted his teeth before he jolted towards the sink.
‘It looks like they are doing good,’ I laughed inwardly and faced North to watch the sunrise.
After I watched the sun peeking out from the dark neon blue ocean, my mood lifted. I observed the beach and felt amazed to find that we were surrounded by water and some other islands. The water around was as clear as crystal, to the point where I could see the depths of the sea.
Relaxing like this while sitting inside the cottage made me feel a bit guilty towards the two men who are working hard in the kitchen.
Well, it wasn’t my intention to make life hard for them. It’s their fault for trying to act cool.
‘Or maybe, I am just trying to escape from the question?’
My eyes went to the two dishes in front of me. The Burrito and the Egg benedict. The two dishes are good but, I preferred one over the other. And that’s why I escaped from the chance to tell them which I chose.
I did not choose based on the person who cooked this but because of the taste. That’s all.
‘But if I am defending myself like this, isn’t it a sign that I did choose biased on the person who cooked?’
Weird.
A person has her own mind and body. But sometimes, it is harder to understand yourself than reading other people’s minds.
Once again, my eyes fell to the dish that I wanted. It is...
“A beautiful sight and a beautiful woman.”
I tilted my head to the man who dared to interrupt me when not of the employees failed to do. Without asking for my consent, he perched on the chair beside me. In his hand, he got a fruit shake, which is probably the reason why he has masculine and good body. Not that I care about his sh*tty features.
“I feel like in paradise being in this place and sitting beside you,” Nocturne murmured. He squinted his eyes at the sight of the ocean before staring at my face.
My mood plummeted in an instant.
To prevent myself from throwing up the food that I ate, I avoided looking at him and focused on the blue ocean instead.
“Oh? This is surprising. You did not ask me to get lost,” he said arrogantly.
“As if you will go if I tell you to,” I said. “I am sure you have reason why you suddenly approached me, in front of the employees.”
I looked around the cottage and caught some eyes looking at us. When they met my eyes, they naturally looked away and pretended clueless.
Given Nocturne’s reputation, all know that he is a bastard who loves flirting with married women. Probably, they also know that I wouldn’t give in with this bastard’s temptation, which I wouldn’t call temptation but instead a disgusting act.
I can’t kick his cr*tch though, not in front of the crowd.
“You surely is smart woman,” Nocturne said.
I did not reply and crossed my arms.
“Last night, I heard an interesting story. This is about a wife who drowned in the pool while her husband is hugging another woman,” he said in low tone, as if not to let everyone hears his voice.
“...”
“Deja vu. It feels like I witnessed that same scenario in the launching party before. Don’t you agree?”
I couldn’t help flinching and grinning at his words. Then I responded, “Of course. This happened because of the same person who was getting controlled by you. Both the incident in the party and the incident in the pool. It all happened because of your influence.”
The person who tripped Isa in the party, and the person who asked her to mess with me and my husband at this vacation, it’s no doubt that Nocturne is behind of this.
Keeping the grin on my face, I turned my head to him and asked. “What do you really want? Beside of revenging at me for telling you to get lost?”
Nocturne placed his juice on the table. He leaned his elbow on the table and placed his chin at the back of his hand. He probably thinks that he looks good and hot right now but seeing his face up close just made me wanna throw a punch.
“You’re right. I am taking revenge on you. But I wanted more than that,” he answered. “I wanted Adira to be submissive.”
I unfolded my arms while staring at him who’s spitting nonsense.
“Oh how great it will be if I can take off that arrogant face of yours,” he added. His words sound sly and filled with vengeance but his eyes say different. His lustful gaze towards me, as if stripping me naked wouldn’t be enough.
‘Shall I secretly kill this guy and feed him to the shark when no one is looking?’
“To make it short, I wanted you to be mine, Adira.”
He raised his glass of juice again, as if asking me for a toast.
After sipping, he said in low tone, “Why are you trying to be loyal to your husband when he cheated right in front of your eyes? You are so dumb.”
Loyal?
Me?
What a load of crap.
I am not trying to be loyal, but I just don’t care.
But if I really don’t care then why did I get mad last night? Why did I let my emotions take me over, engulfing me with an unknown force inside my chest?
And above else, what made me realize that divorcing Chadwick as soon as possible is the best answer to get rid of these odd emotions?
“So come to me,” Nocturne offered. “Come to me and…”
I did not let him finish his words as I butted between his sentences. “You must have a lot of time in your plate.”
He stopped for a moment and chuckled huskily. “Well, it is my job as a rich man. To relax and look for things which will entertain me.”
I nodded my head to agree. “If you are looking for entertainment, why don’t you go check the latest news on the internet. I am sure you will properly get entertained.”
The smile on his lips, which I wanted to take off from the beginning, has vanished. Tilting his head, maybe wondering, he shoved his hand in his inner pocket and grabbed his phone out.
I saw him check the latest news in the browser and the widening of his eyes once he saw the news.
“This…!” he shouted then stood up.
Employees around looked at our directions. I guess some of them already saw the news and that’s why they are sending disgusted stares at Nocturne.
“This is…” Nocturne murmured while quivering in great madness.
The news is about Nocturne and a married female celebrity who were caught going inside the hotel together. This is the time when we hired the female celebrity as our endorser, and we had a party to welcome her. But after the party, Nocturne asked her to come with him to the hotel. A reporter took pictures and sent it to me. To prevent issues and scandal, I bribed the reporter to hide the truth. The next day, I fired the female celebrity as our endorser and choose another one.
I have no intention to put this out in the media, but Nocturne keeps on bugging me. So, I had no choice.
Turning red, Nocturne looked at my way with eyes that can strangle one’s neck.
“Are you the one who…?” His incomplete question gave me satisfaction.
“Mr. Nocturne,” I said as I stood up. “I think you still have time to fix it.” I leaned closer and whispered, “Since I did not give all the pictures that I have.”
With this gap, I could hear him grinding his teeth and could feel the heat oozing from his body. When I moved back, his face was like a volcano that was about to erupt lava.
“So, you should go now. It is a friendly advice from an arrogant woman like me,” I said with a smile.
He gripped his phone tightly before he sent me a one last glare. Then he dashed outside the cottage. When his back faded from the distance, I felt a sense of relief.
‘Good thing I’ll be peaceful from now on.’
Huh. Peaceful?
I almost forgot that there are still people here who won’t let me rest.
First, that Isa is still here.
Second…
I looked back to see the two men in the kitchen. To my surprise, the two of them were staring at me with serious expressions as if they were in a debate.
