It wasn't worth him getting into serious trouble over someone like Victoria.
Victoria fumed, “Who has one foot in the grave? Natalie, you're going too far! I'm still your former mother-in-law! How dare you speak to me like that? Mrs. Lockwood, you see? Natalie is no saint.”
Mrs. Lockwood replied, “The Lockwood family doesn't need Natalie to be a saint. No matter what kind of person she is, she's our family.”
Liana nodded, and Lucas added, “That's right. Natalie is our family no matter what. In fact, we'd rather she have a sharp edge so people like you can't bully her.”
Victoria was livid. Natalie's business with her son didn't bother them at all? The woman was clearly damaged goods, yet the Lockwoods were fighting over her. It was absurd.
Angela was also furious. Why did Terence insist on a divorcée? How was she any less than Natalie?
He was even willing to kill for her.
“Terence, are you trying to silence her? Even if she says nothing, does that mean nothing happened between Natalie and Darren? They were husband and wife; anything they did was normal. Doesn't the fact that she has a whole child bother you at all?”
A shadow fell over Natalie’s features. Terence’s gaze turned to ice, his voice low and lethal as he said, “You're not wrong. They were husband and wife, so anything they did was normal. But now, they have no relationship whatsoever. She's with me now!”
Terence curled a hand around her waist and tugged her sharply down onto his lap, a silent, unyielding declaration of exactly who she belonged to.
Just then, members of the Ward family arrived.
Natalie quickly got off Terence's lap.
Angela could have exploded with rage.
“Natalie, what's this about the trending topic? I've already had it taken down.”
