“What is all this garbage? Terence, get this trending topic taken down immediately. How can you let Natalie lay eyes on this garbage!”
Mrs. Lockwood was furious. She was usually gentle and rarely lost her temper like this.
Natalie hadn't expected Mrs. Lockwood to see the trending topic and get so angry on her behalf, so determined to defend her.
Terence immediately put in a call to have the topic removed, shooting Angela a cold, warning look.
Angela was shocked that Mrs. Lockwood had seen it and was still defending Natalie.
Did she think it was just a rumor?
Angela said indignantly, “Mrs. Lockwood, look at the hickey on Natalie's neck. It's all clearly true, so why are you still protecting her? Terence is completely captivated by her; he can't even think straight. You have to be the one to see clearly, Mrs. Lockwood.”
Mrs. Lockwood looked at the mark on Natalie's neck. It was undeniably real.
Mrs. Lockwood said, “Natalie, that mark on your neck… was it from Darren?”
Natalie subconsciously touched the hickey on her neck, her features hardening into a stony, unreadable mask. She didn't say a word.
Angela rushed forward and said, “See, Mrs. Lockwood? She can’t even answer! That’s proof right there she’s guilty!”
Mrs. Lockwood said angrily, “This story hitting the trending topics so quickly… you had something to do with it, didn't you? I know you've liked Terence for many years. He's always only ever seen you as a platonic friend, like a little sister he never had, but if you keep hurting Natalie like this, you'll lose even that tenuous bond with him forever!”
Angela's face fell. After all, Mrs. Lockwood had always been relatively kind to her, but now she was speaking with such a harsh tone.
She was defending Natalie this fiercely, even though the undeniable proof of Darren's claim was bruised right into Natalie's skin.
