From Ashes of Scandals to His Embrace novel Chapter 431

Renata could tell something was wrong with Laurinda. She shot up from her seat and hurried after her, reaching out and catching Laurinda by the arm.

“Laurinda, wait. Adolphus is still in surgery. You can’t just do something crazy.”

Laurinda froze the moment she heard Adolphus’s name. She shut her eyes and drew in a deep breath.

“If I don’t do something now, I’ll go insane.”

Renata’s hand tightened on Laurinda’s arm for a second. She searched for something reassuring to say, but nothing came to mind. Instead, she let go, flashed a bright smile, and shrugged.

“Fine, I’ll come with you. But do you even know who you’re after?”

“Of course. Leo already figured it out.”

Laurinda had no plans to get information out of Adolphus’s people. She knew Adolphus wouldn’t want her to find out what he’d been up to in Mistfall Atoll.

Her own team had already dug up all the details before she even got there. They knew what had happened, and why Adolphus got hurt. If the Riley family thought they could mess with her crew, they were about to find out just how wrong they were.

With their target clear, Laurinda and Renata didn’t waste another second. They strode out of the hospital together, determination burning in their eyes.

By the time Laurinda made it back to the base, Leo was already waiting. The team and weapons were prepped and ready, just waiting for her signal.

“Laurinda, everyone’s in position. We can hit them from a distance or go in for a surprise attack. Just say the word.”

Laurinda walked up to the control desk and sat down, her gaze fixed on the glowing red dot on the screen.

“How big is the blast radius if we go remote?” she asked.

“We can wipe out the entire Riley estate, no problem.”

Laurinda nodded. “Let’s do it. Hit them hard.”

She pressed her hand to the red button and tapped it. Relief washed over her, steady and sweet.
