Rodrigo POV
I’ve been keeping up with Aiden regarding the ports. He is actually a really good mentor. I am starting to break even with the Moreno ports and the Reyes ports profits are up by twenty-five percent. Looking at how easily this could have been managed with just running the business versus my father’s shady dealings, we could have been beyond successful years ago.
I am supposed to talk to Aiden tomorrow afternoon. He did say he was trying to negotiate a deal with another pack right now and may not be available tomorrow if things go well but that he would send me a message if that were the case.
Julian has been surprisingly quiet. He calls every week to ask me about any developments and if I have heard from Mia. He still thinks she is the Shadow Maw, but she isn’t. I don’t want to tell him it’s Thalia because she is going to give birth soon. I’ve been trying hard to keep him at bay. I don’t want any part of what he is trying to pull. The prophecy doesn’t sound like he is going to be the victor in this scenario.
My phone rang and when I check the caller ID, I see it’s Aiden. “Hey Aiden!” I said cheerfully.
“Rodrigo, I won’t be available tomorrow for our call. Something has happened here.” Aiden said and he sounds serious. More serious than I think I have ever heard him.
“Is everything okay?” I asked.
Aiden replies, “We were attacked by a pack a little while ago. Thalia is in the hospital.”
I paused for a moment, “Is everyone okay?”
“Yeah, but things are shaken up right now. I need to handle this. I’m sorry. We will continue next week. If there are any emergencies, call Reid. He can walk you through it until next week.” He said. “I need to go now. I will let you know about Thalia when I get an update.”
We hung up, and I wondered why a pack was attacking Blackstone? I’m pretty sure they are the largest pack out that way.

Aiden POV
After I hung up with Thalia, my father snarled. Clearly, he heard her say there was an attack coming.
“Who the fuck is trying to come after Blackstone? Are they fucking stupid?” Dad said.
“I have no idea dad. We need to get to the northern gate, and we are still ten minutes out. Step on it.” I told him as my mood darkens.
‘No one hurts our mate!’ Leon growls in my head.
‘Damn straight no one fucking touches what’s mine, Leon.’
My mom breaks up my conversation with Leon, “Aiden, let’s go in there calmly. Also remember, Thalia is strong and Nyx doesn’t put up with nonsense. If anything happens, they can handle themselves long enough for us to get there. Then we can wreak havoc; and after today’s meeting with Paul, I need to get out some frustrations.”
I smiled at my mom. She is always ready to defend her family.
We are in the pack but from the eastern side. We need to get to the northern gate. Dad is driving and he means it. There is dust flying behind us and tires are screeching when he turns. Before we know it, we are at the northern gate, just as the pack is coming towards us.
I see Isaiah and he is snarling. When he sees me, he jogs over and meets me halfway.
