Chapter 417
Isaiah POV
We got on the jet and as soon as we were alone, I looked at Sinclair. “Spill. What is going on? Who contacted you and why were you so damn shaken up?” I demanded.
Sinclair closed her eyes and sighed. “It was my foster brother. He said that my foster dad wanted me home immediately. When I told him that I left permanently, and I meant it, he dropped a bombshell on me.”
“Which was?”
“He said that my foster dad had information on my birth parents all this time and if I wanted it, then I would need to come back.” She said.
“He’s had the information all this time?” I asked, feeling angry for her.
“Yeah. That’s what it sounds like. It could be a lie too, though. I won’t know until I get there. I recently started following every lead I discovered to see if I can find my birth parents. I don’t know their story or why they gave me up. I just know I want to find them. I hope I can anyway.” She said.
“Sinclair, I’m sorry. That’s a real shit thing your foster dad did. He should have given you that information a long time ago.”
“Yeah, well he wasn’t really nice to me. Sure, he gave me a roof, but I didn’t even have a key to the house. If it was raining or snowing or cold weather, I would have to wait until one of them decided to let me in. I had maybe three or four worn out outfits for school and my bed was the couch.” She sighed while Storn was ready to shred her foster family to pieces. “At least I wasn’t on the streets. They didn’t beat me up or anything though. Not like the family before them. The previous foster home beat me up so bad that there were times I couldn’t sleep from the pain.”
Holy Moon Goddess. This girl has been mistreated her entire life from the sounds of things. No wonder she wants to know about her birth parents. No wonder she wanted to turn.
“That’s why you say you wanted to belong. You turned because you would be part of a pack and you see how we look out for our own.” I said, finally making sense of why she made the choice.
“Yeah. I decided to turn, just to belong.” She said and then smirked, “Kaia wanted a mate. Her reasons are like mine but from different circumstances.”
“I’m guessing you won’t tell me about them either, huh?”
“No. She needs to tell you, Isaiah. Kaia seems silly and flirty, but it’s a mask. Behind it, she’s hurting.” She said and to be honest, it surprised me to hear her say that. Kaia seems like a confident and outgoing type of personality. If it’s all a mask, then I don’t really know my mate at all.
I see Sinclair get a wicked gleam in her eyes. “How about the three of us have dinner tonight?” She said.
I smiled at her, “How do you suppose we do that? She’s not going to want to see me.”
“Not if she doesn’t know you are coming.”
“Sinclair, you are going to be the most amazing friend of my life if you can facilitate dinner tonight with her.” I said, smiling widely.
“I’ll arrange everything after we land.” She said.

“What about your foster family?” I asked.
“Can we do it tomorrow, or do you need to get back?”

“I’ll call Jonah and ask him to man the pack until tomorrow evening at the latest. We will go tomorrow.” I said.
After we land, Sinclair makes her call and I call Jonah and explain to him that we are going to see Sinclair’s foster family tomorrow morning or afternoon.
“Handle it. She looked pretty upset.” He said.
“Yeah, they treated her terrible man. I’ll fill you in when I get back. Storn wants to tear them to shreds.” I said.
“That bad?”
“Brother, you have no idea.” I said. We said goodbye and hung up, and I walked over to Sinclair.
“Great! I am sending you the address now. Don’t be late, girl!” She said.
She looked at me and smiled. “Am I good, or Am. I. GOOD?”
I laughed, “You are way better than good. Shall we?”
We walked off the airstrip and then over to the parking garage where our rental for the next twenty-four hours was waiting and made our way to the restaurant. We are about fifteen minutes early but still decide to go inside.
I tell Sinclair I’m going to the bathroom and while we are in there, Storn starts going crazy.
‘Get outside! Now!’ he said, trying to claw his way out.
‘Hold on. Let me wash my hands.’ I said as I quickly do the task and then make my way out of the bathroom.
Storn howls happily in my head when the scent of coconuts and jasmine invade our senses.
“MATE!” he said, before I could stop him.
I see Kaia turn around and her eyes widened, “MATE!” she said loudly as well before her cheeks flush a tempting
shade of red.
I walked over to her quickly and wrapped my arms around her and hugged her tightly. At first, she stiffens and then she melts into my arms and damn it, it feels good. I still can’t believe we are mated, but I don’t care. I have never felt so relieved in my life.
“Finally.” I whispered.
Kaia looks at me with vulnerable eyes. I’ve never seen her look at me like that before. “Do you need me to reject you?” She whispered.
I look at her like she is crazy. “Reject you? No. You are my mate, Kaia. I’m not rejecting you.”
Then I remember what Sinclair said. Behind her mask, she is hurting. I need to remember that now.
“I’m still married.” She said. Her lone is almost like she is trying to push me away.
I grabbed her hands and felt that electric jolt i have heard my family talk about for years. I looked her in the eyes, snd I could tell she felt it too. “So? I’ll get rid of him. Say the word.” I smirked.
She finally cracks a shy smile. “No need. I’m taking him down already. My way will hurt him more.” She said.
