The sharp, chaotic noise brought Lisa running from the kitchen. “Mr. Jones!”
“Get out!” my father roared.
Lisa scurried back into the kitchen. I sat in my corner, propping my chin on my hand, a slow smile spreading across my face.
So, this is what it felt like for him. A betrayer deserved to be betrayed. That was justice. That was fair.
The commotion was so loud that it brought Antonia out of her room. Her makeup was still perfect, but she had changed into a simple dress. She hurried downstairs. “Dad, what’s wrong? Where’s Mom?”
Her words only fueled his rage. “Don’t you dare call that whore your mother! Tell me, has she been secretly bringing men home behind my back?”
Antonia looked shocked. “Of course not! Mom has always been virtuous. Dad, what’s wrong? Why would you say something like that?”
“She did it! I saw it! She was just rolling around with that pig, Zachary! What am I supposed to say?”
Antonia’s face was a picture of disbelief. “That’s impossible! Mom set him up for Zephyra. How could she be with him?”
A sudden realization dawned on my father. “Zephyra!” he bellowed. “Get your ass out here!”
I pushed myself up from my seat and stood on the staircase, leaning against the railing and looking down at the father-daughter duo.
“I’m right here.”
My father looked up at me, his eyes practically shooting fire. “You ungrateful brat! Was this your doing?”
“It was,” I admitted calmly. “Aunt Janice prepared a man for me, but my husband was here. How could I accept such a gift? Naturally, I had to let Aunt Janice enjoy him herself. And look, they hit it off immediately. So passionate.”
My father’s rage boiled over. He grabbed his cane and started toward me, but I just toyed with my phone, a small smile on my face. “Dad, did you see that little video clip? I have the original right here. If you lay a hand on me, the only thing you’ll get is total public humiliation.”
His angry advance halted. “It was you? How do you have that?”
