I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 208

I clutched my mother’s things, my heart blazing with anger. My father urged, “Alright, now delete the video.”

“What’s the rush?” I said coolly. “I also want two million.”

My father was a ruthless man who had clawed his way up from nothing. He was incredibly frugal and cherished his money. If I asked for too much, he’d refuse. I had to do this one step at a time.

“What? Two million?!” His face twisted in fury. “Are you insane? You married into a billionaire’s family. Do you need money?”

Antonia laughed with scorn. “Zephyra, I told you Mr. Lancaster didn’t care about you. He hasn’t spent a dime on you, has he? That’s why you’re scheming to get money from Dad.”

My father’s brow furrowed. I ignored their taunts, my gaze fixed on him.

“Dad, whether Steven treats me well or not is irrelevant. He’s sleeping in my room right now, by the way. But your situation is very clear. Think of it this way: two million is the price to make a video that could ruin you disappear. The video isn’t what’s valuable—you are. Isn’t that right?”

“Besides, I’m not asking for your company. It’s only two million. Is that really so much?”

He agreed, transferring the money through gritted teeth. I deleted the video in front of him, then sent him the clip of Janice and the fat man.

“A little bonus gift. See? I’m such a good daughter.”

My father looked like he was about to vomit from disgust and rage. He stormed off toward his room. As he left, I couldn’t help but ask, “Dad, how did Mom really die?”

Antonia shot him a nervous glance, but my father was still seething.

“How else would she die? From her illness, of course!” he yelled as he walked away. “You’re all a bunch of ungrateful parasites! Marrying your mother and having you was the worst luck of my life!”

The smile faded from my eyes, and the last flicker of attachment I had for this family was extinguished.

If he had admitted to wronging my mother, shown any guilt or remorse, I might have softened, might have held back. But after this, there was nothing left to say.
