I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 231

I turned to look at him. Myron was smiling, his charming eyes fixed on me as if I were some priceless treasure. He was always using those eyes to manipulate people.

“Is there something wrong with submitting my work as Kardia?”

“Of course not! What are you talking about?” Myron’s eyes held a strange glint, but his smile never wavered. “Your talent is undeniable. I just think that right now, Somania’s reputation far exceeds Kardia’s.”

“Somania is a rising star with immense potential. If you use that name, no one will dare to look down on our company, right?”

“You’re a rich man. Do you really care about things like that?” I narrowed my eyes at him. “And I can’t help but feel that you just want my secret identity to be exposed.”

Between my two lives, I had met my share of businessmen. My father was a prime example. But with Myron, I never sensed that desperate, ruthless pursuit of profit. Yet, he was always pushing me to reveal my identity. He clearly had an ulterior motive.

He grinned. “Of course I care. I’m running a company, after all. It’s like signing a huge celebrity. You’re an A-list star, but I have to pretend you’re an unknown rookie. That’s a lot of lost commercial value, a lot of lost money.”

I gave him a humorless smile. “But that was one of the conditions you agreed to when you hired me. I think you just want Steven to find out who I really am.”

Myron’s smile faltered, and he cleared his throat. “That’s just one tiny, tiny part of it. You know he’s been looking for you. He’s been grilling me about it for weeks, and I’ve been stalling. Last time, he told me Somania has an agent, a man named Horace, and asked me to verify it. I’ve been putting him off.”

“If your identity is revealed, he’ll stop bothering me, and I can finally have some peace. Steven is getting really hard to fool. I don’t think I can keep this up for much longer.”

How did Steven know Horace was my agent?

A jolt went through me. I suddenly remembered the night I was drunk, talking to ‘Horace.’ All I could recall was him constantly asking about Somania.
