Steven lay beside me, his expression blank. “I couldn't go through with it. Don't accuse me of anything.”

Such a declaration of loyalty.

I was suspicious but didn't dare argue. After sulking for a moment, I said, “I'm going to sleep. You should leave.”

Steven turned his head, shooting me a sideways glance. “My room has been defiled. I’m sleeping here.”

I sniffled. “You could get another room. If you're too lazy to move, I... I can take the new room.”

His body was radiating heat, a fire burning within him. “I won’t touch you.”

“But this is my room,” I said weakly.

My words lacked any conviction, considering he had been footing the bill for all my food and lodging.

Steven’s patience ran out. A ghost of a smile played on his lips. “Zephyra, are you asking for another kiss? Do you want a repeat of what just happened?”

I shut my mouth immediately.

The faint scent of alcohol wafted from him. His cheeks were flushed and hot. He seemed lucid, his logic intact, yet I sensed he had zero self-control. I couldn't tell if he was drunk.

As we lay there, his breathing grew heavier, the sound grating on my nerves.

Suddenly, he sat up, handed me a room key, and told me to go get him a change of clothes.

With that, he got off the bed and walked into the bathroom, giving me no room to refuse.

I had no choice but to get dressed and go fetch his clothes. Linda happened to stop by, handing me a face mask. I gave her a quick, noncommittal reply and headed downstairs.

Meanwhile, Steven called Myron, his voice grim. “What did you give me?”

On the other end, Myron sounded sheepish. “Um… just… something to get you in the mood. I just thought you were having a tough time. No guy your age works that hard without getting a little action. Blowing off steam now and then is good for your health.”
