I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 674

I wasn’t seriously injured, but my head was throbbing and I felt incredibly dizzy.

Steven’s hands fumbled with his seatbelt, trying to get free, but it seemed to be stuck. He grunted with effort and reached for mine instead. “Get out!”

But before he could unbuckle me, the car was hit again, this time with even more force.

We weren't so lucky this time. The entire vehicle was knocked off the road. The highway was flanked by mountains on both sides.

As we tumbled down the slope, the noise was deafening. It felt like my eardrums had burst; I couldn’t hear a thing.

In the dead silence, the only thing I could see was Steven beside me. He suddenly pressed my head down, forcing my body lower. The seatbelt bit painfully into my shoulder, but at the same time, his body shielded mine, and the pressure made me cry out in pain.

Then came another dizzying spin as the car crashed repeatedly before I finally lost consciousness.

I don’t know how much time passed before I was woken by pain. A dull, heavy ache pulsed in my lower abdomen. When I opened my eyes, I saw a tree trunk piercing through the car, right between the driver and passenger seats, pinning the vehicle against the slope.

The tree must have slowed our descent. I was still alive.

Just like when I fell into the ocean, I had no life-threatening injuries, only a spattering of minor cuts and scrapes.

I quickly looked at Steven. He was no longer pressed against me but was held firmly in his seat by the belt. He was hurt worse than I was; there was blood on his forehead and face. I frantically reached out to check the pulse in his neck. It was strong, and his body was warm. I let out a huge sigh of relief.

I called his name several times.

“Steven… Steven?”

He didn’t respond. He was unconscious. Ignoring the pain in my abdomen, I struggled to unbuckle my seatbelt. Luckily, the car had landed upright this time, making it easier.
